Dan Wesson Specialist 10mm

Comments

does anyone have experience with the specialist in 45? is it having similar issues?

Creamy Goodness

thats crazy. I myself messed up my p10c doing something that should have violated warranty, they said they'd take a look at it but it might take 2 months. I sent it off and I had in back in 2 weeks with new internals. no charge.

I can back you up on the Customer service issues. I love CZs products but FUCK CZUSA. Those people are USELESS. It took them 2 months and 15 phone calls to send me a single spring i needed to repair my 457 match rifle... and I paid for the spring. If you buy a CZ product in the US, you're on your own if they break.

As a CZ fan, CZ customer service doesn’t always have the best reputation.

I agree with trying a heavier recoil spring as mentioned above. https://wilsoncombat.com/spring-recoil-1911-5-full-size-24lb.html They also make a flatwire one: https://wilsoncombat.com/recoil-spring-kit-flat-wire-10mm-460-rowland-full-size-24lb.html for which you need their 1/4” diameter reverse plug. Regardless, this is disappointing. Thank you Aaron for saving us the pain. I like my Dan Wesson Guardian .38 Super with a 9 mm conversion barrel. Zero issues. CZ has serious customer service issues in my opinion, and Dan Wesson is stretched too thin to better support their customers. They are next near impossible to get a hold of.

10mm & 40 are always to be given side eye in a 1911. There are exceptions to every rule, sure. But for general pop? Usually it’s a no from me.

Engineer. So, yes. 😂

If CZ can’t get it right the first time, I’d rather send it to a professional.

Why send it to Mr. Chambers and not back to CZ/Dan Wesson? Seems that a gun that doesn’t run from the box is a warranty issue. Why let them off the hook?

Clarke

Curious to see what Mr. Chambers finds! I look forward to the update. A couple thoughts on the feeding issue: 1. The recoil spring looks light with how far the cases are being thrown. It seems factory is 22#, maybe try 24#. This will give the slide some more mustard when it comes forward to chamber the next round. May reduce muzzle flip slightly. 2. It looks like this gun has a typical Clark/Para ramp. This is common on 10mm 1911's (as far as I know). I think the extra length of the ramp on the back of the chamber "supports" the case better for those high pressure 10mm loadings. I think they used the ramped barrels on 38 supers for the same reason. I have seen 10mm 1911s offered with ramped or unramped (like typical 45acp) barrels. Not sure which is best from a feeding perspective. I am sure a competent gunsmith will be able to mess with the ramp angle/contour and aid in feeding.

“Imperial” and “SAE” are the terms you’re looking for. Another excellent review.

Only buy a 9mm Dan Wesson at this point. Dan Wesson uses a ramped barrel in all there specialists no matter the caliber. Im quoting this from Joe chambers “you can not make a ramped barrel in 10mm/.45acp reliable”.

Ethan Speaks

That’s a real bummer but at least you got some solid malfunction reps in. 😅

Every time Aaron posts a 1911/2011 video Joe Chambers accountant gets a tingle and he's not sure why.
