Dates of Future Past

Last time she went with Ian to the movies, she was still in a relationship with Alex. She could have easily resolved it by breaking up, or even giving him fair warning she would be seeing a movie with a bunch of male friends. Regardless, she acted impulsively at the offer to join them. Even though Alex was a jackass, she still disregarded his feelings, and that of Ellie's when she wanted to see the movie too. While she's obviously NOT in a relationship with Pumpkin, it's still someone that had expectations with Quinn's time. Quinn could run the risk of acting impulsively again and ditching Pumpkin, disregarding her feelings. She's learning from the past, and showing more empathy.

Strange question, but how did she leave her relationship flapping in the wind? She didn't have an actual, romantic date with Ian, but spent some time with him, although she DID want something more out of it. Afterwards, she DID break up with Alex, so I guess I'm not seeing the terrible problem, or the part where she isn't a normal human being, granted, some of the nuances of interpersonal interactions elude me (sometimes I feel like Tommy Lee Jones in those Japanese coffee commercials).

I'm bad at noticing things. If not for all the comments, I would've interpreted her "...this time??" as belatedly remembering Gump Wars and begging off for that reason. It does seem that her change of heart is Pumpkin-related, though.

I think that Pumpkin is attempting to tread new waters, because of her father's insistence. She was, I think, not only attempting to break out of the "tag along sister" image, but also trying to forge new friendship grounds here. Having been the third, fourth and fifth wheel so many times may have some introverted styles of backlash. Pumpkin may be feeling somewhat disappointed at this, and the guys backing off so damn fast as well.

Pumpkin is obviously bummed about Quinn talking with Eagan the way she is, but what did she expect would happen when she kicked Quinn out of hiding? I guess I'm just going to have to go with "she didn't think things through" - she is, after all, still a teenager.
