For Those Who Wait

I know my art is obnoxiously slow, but here's my longest singular post to date. Don't feel too disappointed in the conclusion. Pumpkin gave you her answer. Quinn gave you the direction this is still headed.

For Those Who Wait For Those Who Wait

Obnoxiously slow? Are you kidding me? Look at the size of that thing! And the quality! No wonder this took some time.

Lukas Buergi

As a matter of fact... yes.

Lukas Buergi

This is actually where I expected her to go, asexual. I like that. Very interesting path to take.

Felli

Comic tour-de-force. Kudos for delivering it all in one fell swoop!

I'm not disappointed in the conclusion, as it works perfectly well and does fit with personality/breadcrumbs. Though I will say without your previous post stating that this one would answer the question, I would've wondered if this was a final or intermediate answer. With the "be patient and you'll find yourself" part I would've wondered otherwise. Granted, it would've been a less realistic conversation without that.

That One Guy

To be fair, too much swing music can start to grate on people's nerves. (not actually disagreeing with the public attention span comment, I just enjoy being a smartass)

That One Guy

The writing is incredibly well done in this one. I'm very impressed by the realness of the dialogue and the characters. I'll admit to being annoyed by the lack of updates for so many days, but it was totally worth it. Strips like these are why I read this comic.

Ouch, I know Pumpkin's feelings too well. It's painful to not be attracted to anyone, yet feel like you're inexplicably missing out on something big...

Rebecca

I'm glad Quinn is being the Big Sister that Pumpkin needs! Good to have some level-headed chats with SOMEbody :)

And the only cost, it seems, is putting up with Quinn's snarkiness. Which is probably one of the reasons that Pumpkin went there. And we know that they have a new sister in Quinn. Which is cool with me.

Mr. Blue

Ooooh, I thought so. Figuring out your sexuality can be a messy thing, especially when it falls outside of the more common and expected ones. It's interesting how Quinn is savvy on the subject of sexuality and is doing a great job helping Pumpkin there. And, wow, that was a long read! I loved every bit of it. It's surprising how much different Ashliii is when her friends are involved. She looks ready to kill in those top panels. She's almost like a whole different person from her usual phone-addicted self.

OMG. I had to go back to see that. You are so right. Plus it works on so many different levels. And it's all Quinn.

Mr. Blue

This is one of the best things I've read from this comic so far. I'm kinda struggling with this kind of stuff myself and Quinn's advise is kinda helpful to me.

Rebecca Chapman

Pure awesomesauce Chris. And the answer is still left pondering on the fulcrum of an argumentative audience.

Mr. Blue

This has exactly the feel of a therapy session.

Asexual? I see. The internet sure is good about spreading awareness about these sort of things. I've seen a lot of inclusion of aseuxal characters and issues in stories recently. It seems to hit all the extremes from "always like that but had no word for it", to new character introduced for representation, to flavor-of-the-month all-the-cool-kids-have-an-asexual-character-now-so-me-too syndrome. I'm happy that all the ace people are getting characters that they can relate to, but I hope they realize that this surge of visibility doesn't always work in their favor. Thought-out characters will stick around, but those who were introduced as single-issue showcases tend to be forgotten or put on the bus, since most people, no matter how well-intentioned, have a short attention span and are already hungering for tomorrow's "brand new" thing. I see this starting to happen with trans issues, as people are starting to go "Okay, look you are represented everywhere now . . . are you happy yet?"--as if a year's worth of engagement could possibly be enough to sustain a person for the rest of their lives! Here's hoping that the public's concern for these often-ignored sexualities lasts longer than, say, the public's concern for swing dancing.

You know what really irks me about that is I Google checked that word and still spelled it wrong. lol Patreon doesn't let me amend posts either, so we're kinda stuck with it. :P

Love it! That was a great read. Hopefully you're still alive after all of that color-work lol

Love it! There's definitely not enough asexual representation in media. Also, in the panel where Quinn is talking about asexuality, I believe it should be, field of *barley

I am a definite fan of the asexual representation here! As a member of the ace community, I definitely wish I'd had someone like Quinn around when I was younger... I'd love for there to be a clarification if she's asexual and aromantic or just one or the other, but altogether I'm really thrilled that this comic emphasizes it's not just "straight or gay," and has a prominent character who might identify with an underrepresented identity :)

Byrrn It Down

YES! Aro-ace representation! *hugs you so hard*

Valerie Kaplan

Whoa shit. Way more complicated answer than I expected. AND I LOVE IT. Haha that zinger of a last line to all us fans.

Three comments: 1. I can't help but think the title for this one is not just the between-the-lines advice Quinn is giving Pumpkin, but also the artist speaking to the readers. 2. The panel layout was great. With so much going on, it could have been difficult to follow the proper flow. I didn't have a problem with that. The panels flowed and transitioned clearly and seamlessly, quite probably due to careful word balloon placement. Well done. 3. Pumpkin's expression when "I can see your reasoning" - adorbz.

Wow. That was one hell of a long update. Nicely done on the art. Sorta expected that to be her reply at this point :P
