May Map Poll - [June Map] - Original Content

Poll is going out a little later this month as I wanted to get the Palace of Waterdeep Map released before putting out the new poll options.  If you haven't seen it yet, check out the map here.

This month's poll leans heavily towards Palace expansion options - leave a comment with what you'd like to see if you vote for an expansion option!

Poll will be open until June 6th.

The Corkscrew, or the Well, as an entrance through Undermountain direct to Skullport would be nice. I assume lots of switchback paths, squeezing through crevasses, and avoiding lurking predators. I believe the official lore is that the Well is heavily secured and magically locked from the palace side, but not from the nearby sewers. (I'd also love to see the Sea Caves/rebuild, non-magical locks in the future.)

In "The Diamond" there was a temple of Ao with a stained glass window, which would be a cool thing to see. There is a brief description in the wiki, and more in the novel. The tallest tower has a "golemwork" clock called Timehands that rings out the time (as "bells"). I could imagine some players getting into shenanigans up there. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Palace_of_Waterdeep

I'd like to see a "tower-as-an-embassy" map, as that is a great concept. But the palace also has some outbuildings that would be nice to see; the stables, paddock, and barracks are all just to the north, with the Watching Tower just behind. Plus Ahghairon's Tower itself nearby to the east.

In the older lore there is the "Castle Corkscrew", which is a spiral staircase that begins in the castle dungeon that leads directly down to Skullport, bypassing the first two levels of the DotMM. Theoretically the castle guard would be well aware of it and walled it off or secured it somehow. This would be a great asset to have for WDDH to give character's another way to access Skullport besides through Xanathar's Lair or slogging through two levels of DotMM. Also, I'll put in a plug for a future wishlist item- maps of the sea caves (other entry point for Skullport)

I'm going to put in a vote for my favorite non-TSM tavern in Waterdeep. The Thirsty Throat. It's right next door to the Zhentarim warehouse on Candle Lane in chapter 1 and even has some secret entrances into the Warehouse... Google around and you'll find some old maps from the 1e Waterdeep and the North Posters (same ones that had the map of Castle Waterdeep). Not sure if I can link here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/not-forgotten-realms-palant/map/d2ed070b-ebc0-4aa1-a16f-c698e845560a

I hope at some point we get all of the Palace options! But for taverns, I'd like to see Silavene's mapped out. Its got some amazing history, with the Lost Princess Road portal in its backyard, and now the Sahuagin Humbled statue nearby. Its also near the New Olamn college, so I assume they would have lots of music, in addition to the drinking and gambling. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Silavene%27s

would love a seedy place in the dock ward, as well as city shop maps

I'd have voted for the variants as a second choice. It's all a very cool project.

Guidrion

a tavern that hosts bardic competitions would be so cool

I love that there's finally something for the Open Lord's residence so that I can destroy it. I'd love to see what a dungeon-as-panic room for the Lords would be like.

Reply to this comment with your Tavern ideas (ie. is it a posh place for lords of the castle ward or a seedy place in the dock ward?)
