Skull Island - Dungeon of the Mad Mage 102x115 (All Tiers)

The stone fortress, with 20 ft tall walls stands atop a rocky outcrop in the middle of the River Sargauth.  Across Murkspan bridge from Skullport is the main gate, flanked by 30 ft tall towers armed with ballista's and flame cannons...

I'm going to start by apologizing for this map being so massive.  I'm hoping to get back to some more reasonable sizes on Level 4 - there just isn't a great way to split a big fortress in the middle of a river up into nice pieces.

The map in the book for Skull Island is very basic - it doesn't dive into the details of how different floors/levels work, really just giving a single view and noting different heights in the description.  But once I started, I realized that wasn't going to work or be at the quality/playability I wanted - so here we have 3 Levels + roofs to complete the Skull Island map.

I elected to make the lower level walls into hallways - as they would've been ~20 ft thick which seemed a little excessive, even for a big stone fortress in the undermountain.  The towers I decided to make the stairs wrap around the interior walls, leaving the middle open to below, and then have the 3rd floor with large trapdoors that open up over the stairwells.  The other buildings remain true to their uses, although I added some interior walls to make them work a little better - and note: bed numbers reflect forces noted in the book.

The zip files include a token for Murkspan bridge that can be dropped in if/when the bridge gets collapsed.

For area 9  - the prison, I only mapped it 3 levels tall (despite book noting it being 7 - it just didn't seem to provide a lot of value to keep going up - you can just re-use one of the upper 2 levels to fill it out further up the spire if you really need to).

In the future I might re-release this map above ground.  It's a pretty cool fortress, that I think offers some fun playability in other settings so I will look to modify it slightly and move it to the surface (either river or ocean island fortress) and swap some buildings out in their uses.

Also to note with this release is the Connection to Skull Island map - which provides the final link back to Level 3 and makes Skull Island/Skullport fully accessible by the water route (River Sargauth).  Again - here is the final layout (with minor modifications to alignment to get it all to fit together:

The final dimensions of the "Complete Level 3" map is 341x317.  Fun fact: if you printed this all out in a 1" grid and assembled it, the resulting map would be over 28 feet wide and 26 feet tall.

Files. I have included both Background "_BG_" and Transparent "_TP_" versions of each map.  For the Roll20 versions, this means the background version is a jpg while the transparent version is a png (jpgs don't support transparency); Foundry are both dd2vtt files.

The zip files below have the Skull Island Levels 1-3 + roofs, the Connection to Skull Island as well as a GM overlay for each map.  Roll20Free is a .jpg < 5MB, Roll20Paid is a .jpg < 10MB, while Foundry formats are dd2vtt files. Roll20 maps are at 70 and 140 px per grid cell respectively and the Foundry files are 100px (this also holds true for the transparent images).  I had to split some of the zip folders into 2 to stay below my 200mb attachment limit.
