New Year Update from Tych Maps

Hello and Happy New Year from Tych Maps!

As we dive into 2022, I wanted to provide a little update about what I'm working on for the new year.  I've got some exciting things in the works and can't wait to share them with you!

Dungeon of the Mad Mage

I will be continuing my work on DotMM, working our way down the mega dungeon, building out each level.  I am almost wrapped up with Level 3 and then I will be tackling Skullport before continuing on to Level 4 and beyond.  This one is a marathon, not a sprint.

Waterdeep Dragon Heist

I've been expanding my Foundry knowledge and doing testing through December – I am excited to announce that I will be building Foundry modules for each season of WDH! This will further reduce the prep time for Foundry VTT DM's with all the import work done already (such as modifying wall types, setting level teleports, etc).  The module will package a compendium that you can simple import into your world and have all the scenes ready to go (no more manual import of DD2VTT files!!).

In addition, I've reached out to MrPrimate of the amazing DDB Importer module (which provides content importing from DnD Beyond) and will be supporting Adventure Munching for WDH.  What this means for you if you are running foundry is that you'll be able to import a fully loaded game with scenes, walls, lighting, monsters, and map pins containing descriptions of each room, all with very little work on your end.

Whether you just want to save a bit of time setting up scenes or you want to fully import the adventure (and own the content on DDB), I hope that this will further simplify your D&D adventure prep!  More details as to how everything will work to come in the next few weeks! And don't worry, I plan to include DotMM as a module as well in the future.

Other tidbits

Between DotMM maps and the WDH Modules I have a full plate to kick off the year, but let me know what else you'd like to see!  You can comment on this post or join us on discord to share your ideas.  Have an idea for a custom map that would be helpful for everyone running one of the adventures? Need a specific asset for your map/game that someone else might want to use?  Want to see some original content maps every now and then?  Let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you!!!

Thank you for supporting my work - it's been incredible to see the growth and hear your feedback as I've embarked on this adventure.  I'm excited to continue expanding my published adventure offerings, explore new tools and techniques for map making and packaging content, and to keep supporting all you amazing DMs; to make your games a little bit more colorful, engaging and easier to prep.

Cheers,

Ian / Tych Maps

Keep up the good work. Me and my Players just got to Level 2 in dotmm.

Most of the maps I'm using are ones in the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas CD. As far as I can tell, most are from the old 2nd Edition City System book, plus a few extras from older adventure modules.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been floating around ideas of how to further enhance waterdeep and the wdh campaign although there are definitely some diminishing returns depending on what I might map. Any specific sources I should check out?

Amazing news. That will certainly save us a lot of prep time. Thanks a lot!

Holy cow, just about the begin WDH, I already found it fairly easy to import your maps but having them as a foundry drop and play style module would be amazing!

Your WDH maps have been invaluable for my Foundry game. Excited to see what the future holds!

To echo the above comment, these really are the best maps anywhere for these campaigns! I’m taking my party from WDH to DotMM in the next few weeks and I’m so excited to have these maps for the new campaign. Really looking forward to the Skullport map in particular!

Thank you for all your hard work! The WDH and DotMM maps here are the best! If you do ever feel like doing something different, one thing I've noticed running WDH is that there is a severe lack of maps for Waterdeep locations. Almost all the ones I'm using are from 2E. So similar to Skullport (which I'm very happily looking forward to), seeing other taverns, towers, shops, and castles updated would be amazing! Happy New Year!
