Vault of Dragons - Waterdeep Dragon Heist (All Tiers)

The big finale!

Here is the Vault of Dragons, the goal, the destination, the culmination of many sessions of play (but don't worry, I'm not done mapping WDH yet - villain lairs will be coming up next!)

I endeavored to make a map worthy of the conclusion of your campaigns while staying true to the source material.  I didn't want to stray too far from the look of the other maps, but I did want to make it special in a few areas to set it apart from my other maps - hence the 3D (2.5D?) elements throughout the map.  One final note up front - the vault: I've read the Alexandrian section on this and tend to agree that the vault itself is a little underwhelming in layout for the big finale, so I will be releasing (an exclusive to, but free for patrons) separate map soon if you'd like to swap out the final, lower level map.

In mapping, I tried to capture the colors and feel of the key art for the vault and used a similar color palette.  I left the passageways and spaces fairly free of clutter to give grandeur and scale to the map.

Foundry/Universal Map File (dd2vtt) Users: heads up, there are 3 invisible walls on Lvl 2 on the left side of each of the 3 bridges - I needed them to make the lighting work but they can be (need to be) deleted.

Map sizes:

Files.  Below as always you will find the zip files for all 3 levels of the vault in whichever format you prefer.  Instead of day/night variants there are 'static' and 'dynamic' variants which allow you to use the included "DynamicAssets" .png files to swap tokens as elements in the map change:

(Roll20Free is a .jpg < 5MB, Roll20Paid is a .jpg < 10MB, FoundryVTT is a .dd2vtt file). Roll20 maps are at 70 and 140 px per grid cell respectively and FVTT is 100 px per grid cell. There is also a DM overlay (transparent PNG image keyed to the source book) for both the main and upper level - the lower level is all vault V9 so I didn't bother with that one.

Sounds great! Thanks for the awesome maps!

I haven't. At this point I think it will probably end up being done after I finish off the villain lairs as I'd like to have those available for the last couple seasons.

Ian

This is awesome! Have you made the Alexandrian version of the vault yet? I didn't see it in the shared folder.

Joe Ungco

Thank you!!! It's great!

Assets are uploaded - included an extra zip file above (AreaV5DynamicAssets.zip) of some map elements you can drop into V5. When I went back to re-read the source book to confirm location and everything, I realized I didn't fully represent it as noted in the book - it talks about overflowing urns on pedestals with gems and gold spilling out - so I added a few of those options into the zip as well - choose whatever works for you! Let me know if you have any issues with it (as I always like to double check when re-releasing/adding things after the fact).

Ian

Thank you! I'm in no rush so take your time, but I appreciate the quick response.

The_Kazimachine

No worries! I'll try and have something later today or tmrw for you on this.

Ian

I'm not using dungeondraft, sorry

The_Kazimachine

Well that's super weird. I have no idea why those disappeared from the dynamic version. However, it's an easy solution if using dungeondraft (if not lmk and I'll need a bit of time to figure something out). Those assets are standard assets in the "Dining" tag, Big Bowl 01, 02, and 03 I believe, set to a orangey/yellow/copper ish color.

Ian

Is there anyway we can get the assets for V5? I can see things in the above picture, but they are missing from the dynamic map and I don't see them in the dynamic assets here or in the tier 2 Vault of Dragons Assets

The_Kazimachine

This is really well done! loving the depth on the 2nd floor map.
