Hi patrons!
It's been a hell of a week, especially here in Los Angeles. I'm in Burbank kinda smack-dab in the middle of all of the fires but so far not directly affected, and haven't had to evacuate. For that I consider myself lucky, but I've had a really hard time witnessing the chaos, smelling the smoke in the air, hearing about people I care about evacuating, losing their homes, living in fear. My anxiety is on high. It's just been awful.
Water features in my work a lot, even though I'm not somebody who like...goes swimming all the time or spends days at the beach very commonly or anything. I've always been enamored by water, though. I love the way it bends the light and warps objects behind and beneath it, and the way it sparkles and reflects its cool colors onto other things. When I see water, I think of its pleasant, cold, refreshing nature. I think of it as a healing element.
I've seen a lot of red on my timeline this week and I just wanted to put something blue out there. Drawing this made my eyes feel better, in a way.
Please stay safe, please be careful, and please be prepared. It's a scary world out there right now.
