Happy Friday, my sparkly suds!
You might remember a couple months back I did an updated sketch of one of my best-selling prints, "Wash Yer Hands." I've long been meaning to finish it, and with an upcoming shop drop (which...more on that later in the post), last night seemed to be a great time to do so.
As you can see, some more changes were made as I decided to iterate on it further with a new sketch, favoring a full-body pinup over waist-up.
The original version had text reading "Wash Yer Hands" but between this sketch and the final version of the updated piece, I chose instead to pose a question to the viewer: "Did You Wash Your Hands?" I know for a fact that this print has historically ended up hanging in peoples' bathrooms, so I thought it would be a fun nudge to guests to practice basic hygiene, though less forceful than the original.
Fun fact, actually: the original piece was based on a "draw this in your style" by the extraordinary Kat Hudson. Being a fellow southerner with a much more pronounced accent than I have, the use of "Yer" instead of "Your" made a lot of sense in her version and I carried it over into mine. The piece was created early in the Covid-19 lockdown, so her decision to have the message be more insistent made sense for the time.
Anyway, enough overthinking. Me, overthinking? I never overthink anything. Nope.
One element I wanted to keep intact from the original was the use of a dot pattern to provide shading and a little extra graphic style. It's especially evident in the print version, but here's a close-up view so you can get a really good look at it:

This will be available as an 8x10 print in my upcoming shop drop, so keep an eye out for it!
Speaking of the shop drop...I'm struggling to figure out WHEN to do it. Early next week? A part of me is even considering tomorrow afternoon, but weekend posts are often dead on arrival so that might be a bad idea. Probably Tuesday, though. That's my goal. I'm still working on the storyboard test I mentioned earlier this week, and it's been taking up a ton of my time, so prepping for a shop drop hasn't been feasible. I really hate that all of this lined up at once.
At present, I'm shooting for Tuesday at 12pm PDT (Los Angeles time), so let's go with that and if it changes, I'll certainly let you know. Sorry for the confusion!
This piece was sketched in Clip Studio Paint and inked, colored, and finished in Adobe Illustrator.
Thank you so much!
