Primordial Genesect

Yet another Pokemon, one I was convinced to do by my sister because she really likes prehistoric animals and spent days analyzing the lore of all the fossil Pokemon, which Genesect is technically one of, which is basically the main reason I retained any of what she told me about her findings because Genesect is my favorite Pokemon that isn't Mr. Mime. That's right, the sexy ones don't even have second place, I'm blowing your mind all over the place today. Notably she looked into the validity of the old theory that before being made into a cyborg, Genesect was a Kabutops. She disagreed with the theory for the same reason I always did: Kabutops isn't a bug-type, and even if we assume that the cloning process replaces one of the fossil Pokemon's types to rock, because what are the odds that every Pokemon in prehistoric times was a rock-type, something that is corroborated by Mega Aerodactyl, who's rock type is replaced with steel, supposedly being Aerodactyl's true form, that isn't the case for Kabutops because Kabutops isn't actually extinct. Its dex entries all say it's extinct, but Kabuto's dex entry for Alola says it isn't, it's only KINDA extinct, still being found in the wild in some places, while its evolution is somehow the extinct one, probably from the wild Kabuto not seeing a benefit in evolving and simply just choosing not to. With no evidence that those Kabuto have different types from the ones cloned from fossils, it's more likely than not that Kabutops was ALWAYS a water/rock-type. The timeline does add up though in that Genesect existed 300 million years ago and the animal Kabutops is based on goes back about that far, so she looked into other species that existed around that time and found that Whip Spiders, also known as Tailless Whip Scorpions, have a similar shape to Genesect, with a wide head, cinched waist, and large enough pedipalps that they're basically just arms, and being related to scorpions would make a venomous stinger tail an appropriate thing to replace with a cannon

That's when I got to work, imagining that during the events of gen 6, with Mega Evolution being discovered, whatever was left of Team Plasma returned to their attempt to resurrect Genesect. Having a less-complete DNA sample to work with, the cybernetic implements were less to upgrade it and more a result of how much they needed to mimic a fraction of its power. After studying the Mega Evolution process and writing software that replicates it, they created an artificial Mega Evolution for Genesect that finishes the job
