Fallout NCR Ranger Armour complete

Late this week I finished the multi piece version of the chest armour as a few people expressed their point of a single piece of a chest armour like this would make it difficult to move at a con. Therefore, I've made a single piece verison like below, and then the multiple piece to keep everyone happy.

I've said its complete but I know there are the taped on wrist covers which I will do but they...

The Fully Modded Gauss Rifle is Complete

Hello all,

After some difficult times with this model creating the drawing due to the detail I have finally complete the files for the fully modded Gauss rifle and the drawing for the assembly including the assembly of the mods. The assembly covers 4 pages for the main assembly and two drawings for the mods. Here are two of the pages as example. The files to download the Gauss rifle, its mods and the drawing are in the Dropbox folder.

Gauss Rifle Complete

Hi All, I've now finished the base Gauss Rifle model and its available to download on this post and at the Dropbox folders. In total theres 129 individual parts with many having to be printed multiple times but I would say the majority of them being small parts.

The next parts to do are the rear and front sights and the giant compensator and suppressor which will attached to the existing parts I hope without no additional modification.

After those are done I'll start on the asse...

Gauss Rifle Update

As you can see from the post image the gauss rifle is coming along well. I'm now looking over the in game model in detail to capture all the features that the game mesh does not. Most of the screws used are quite easy to size correctly but sum will have to be sized up otherwise they will just be impractical to source as they are tiny. I have started to modelling the upgrades like the coils on the side and have found the l compensator which I will model and hopefully be able to mount onto it...

Gauss Rifle it is.

The gauss rifle won out by a long shot so I got to straight to exporting the mesh and scaling it ready for modelling. I'm currently replaying through F4 so I'm going to find out where the nearest gauss rifle is and I'll be able to take a load of really good screenshots of it. I found using Fallout VR is really good for this as you can really get a good look at the scale of the small features that are faked with normal maps.

As for the rest of the results, I will be starting the smaller...

Time to Choose...

I've tried to collate a good selection of game and movie props an a couple real weapons to give a good variety of projects to choose from. I've put multiple choice selection on so it will give me a good indication what you all want so select any, or all, of the props you are interested in.

Models at the Ready

I've finally managed to finish the Fallout Ghoul Pistol which took a bit a time but got it done. The longest part was the cylinder debossed patterns which took a bit of time to interpret. I ended up smoothing them over in blender as SolidWorks was really chugging with the number of fillets needed to cover everything. The model is all saved out and in the Dropbox folder and ready for printing.

An additional model I've been working on is the 1995 Judge Dredd Helmet as it was on the last p...

A General Update

So I thought I would give a bit of a general update as I've been going between many different things lately.

Firstly the Tron Identity Disc is complete and is in the Dropbox folder ready for printing. I've split it up in two different ways depending on how big your printer is. I will do a quick drawing for it soon just to cover the assembly of it but its pretty easy.

Next is a quick rework of an old model, the Fallout 4 Minigun. I made this a small scale model for someone ages ag...

Thank you all!!

I would firstly like to thank all the new members who have recently signed up due to the obvious release of the Fallout show. I have now binged the series and can definitely see a good future of the series considering how well it was shown to a now growing audience.

I was keeping a keen eye out for notable props while watching the series and there were a few. I will obviously be looking at doing the Ghoul pistol as it instantly reminded me of the Hellboy pistol in terms of power and des...

Bladerunner Pistol Complete!!

I finally got there, its been a fight most of the way through due to the complexity of the geometry but its now complete. The files are all ready to download at the Dropbox links. Unfortunately this is only a static model as there would be no strength of the pistol base frame if I had to remove the material to make a working bolt which isnt ideal but a draw back to printing most thin items like this. I will now start work on the drawings as there are my small fasteners for mounting or decorat...

Bladerunner Pistol update

I know its been some time since my last update so I thought I would give a catchup on whats happening. As shown in the main image the bladerunner pistol is progressing but the top receiver is a little to small as it doesnt fit the scale of the rest of the pistol geometry. Overall the right hand side of the pistol is done, it just the left hand side now which is slightly different in terms of the top of the grip and the black moulded pieces shown on the right side.

Something I havent tal...

Whats Next?

I've tried to create a good range of props to choose from so it should suit what most people would want. Feel free to add what you guys want at the bottom as well just incase I'm missing something more obvious. I've also put the option on for multiple choices so you dont need to think I only get to choose one.

Bioshock Shotgun Build Drawing

Just a quick update, as the title suggests, the Bioshock shotgun build drawing is complete and has been uploaded with the rest of the files.

I'll be making the poll tomorrow and will try and include a few items that were in the previous poll as well as a few different/newer props.

I'm currently in the process of moving and will be moving mid next week, if all goes well it should only be a week without prop work. I will have more space in my new place but dont know how long it will...

Bioshock Shotgun is complete.

I've finished the Bioshock Shotgun this morning and the files are attached to this post, they're also in the dropbox folder locations for both STL's and CAD files. It took a lot longer than I originally thought due to the checkering on the pump grip and the butt stock, the fore grip was the hardest as the pattern wraps around both sides of the grip. There is internal space for a compression spring so the pump grip does 'pump'. I will now be working on the drawing to help with the build but it...

Bioshock Upgraded Shotgun Update

A small update on my progress with the Bioshock Fully upgraded shotgun. I ended up replaying the game to have the fully upgrade shotgun so I could take some  good screenshots as reference as the majority of images I found online were just of other peoples rendered models which were not accurate enough. I only have some details on the butt stock, trigger, finish the checkering and then this basic version can be cut up for printing. I will make a modified version to then include a drive sy...

Stargate Staff Weapon Drawing Complete

The stargate staff weapon is complete and I've included all non printable parts needed in the notes. I have specified the use of a 16mm OD by 1mm wall steel tube as this give the item really good strength to weight over the length of this thing which will make it a really good useable prop. It does involve cutting into the pipe to make an opening for the trigger which was the only way of keeping the stiffeness of the staff and not have a siginificant weak point by having two seperate lengths ...

Stargate Staff Weapon with movement complete!

After 5 iterations of printing different tolerances and designs the mechanical controlled staff weapon for the opening of the head is complete. The main body of the staff is made for 16mm OD, 14mm ID steel conduit/PVC pipe thats 1395mm long, steel pipe is preferable for overall stiffness. The mounting for the trigger will require cutting out a window in the pipe, I'll indicate this position in the assembly drawings. I will start doing the drawing for how to install the pins, trigger and build...

Staff Weapon Progress Update

In some areas of the staff weapon modelling it went swimmingly but on other parts its been like pulling teeth. You can see in the image below of the top of the weapon that the head and forward grip is done but from the rear grip to the end of the staff I've got the geometry almost finished with the some features still to detail.

The image below of the bottom of the staff shows more the basic ge...

Shadow of Mordor - Celebrimbors Hammer is complete

It took a little longer than expected but Celebrimbors hammer is complete. I've made a single piece print as well as a split it up in two and four piece verson so you can print it on a normal or larger size printer. Due to its size I cannot attach the files to this post but you'll find all the files on the dropbox link.

I will finally go back to the Stargate Staff weapon which I know many of you have been wanting but I wanted to finish the last few projects and not leave to many on half...

LOTR Gondor Shield is ready to go!

While doing the Staff Weapon I needed to look at another model so I wasnt just looking at the same thing the whole time. I managed to start and complet the Lord of the Rings Gondor Shield. It was on the poll list of props for my next projects and as it was quite a simple model I thought it would be an easy win.

In the attached file below there are the STL files for the fully printed prop as well as a version to fit wood planks to make a more realistic version. I have also made the...

Stargate Staff Weapon Update

I thought I would give a quick update on how the Staff weapon is going. I've done all the small shaft details from the first front grip to the tip. I have also got a rough actuator assembly designed to open and close the shell pieces of the head. I have got the rest of the geometry for the main shaft and have found that a core of a 16mm OD steel tube can be sourced from my local hardware store and show be availble to most people. This will provide most of the stiffness for the weapon due to i...

Mandalorian Blaster and Bergmann 1894 complete

I've finished both the original design base for the Mandalorian Blaster, the 1984 Bergmann, and the Mandolorian Blaster itself. It took more time than I expected modellig the checking on the Bergmann grip due to its geometry but I got there in the end.

The largest part for both is the receiver which I have saved out as a single piece and in two halves. As for the cleaning rod and its holder, these were quite small components which I have made one version for normal FDM printing and a sm...

Mandalorian Helmet Complete

I've finished the Mandalorian helmet and the files are cut up to print the main helmet body in pieces like above and as single piece. I took a lot longer than I thought on this as I spen ages just tweaking stuff and felt like was only making a small amount of progress after each rebuild of the model.

The model is attached below and the files will be uploaded to dropbox soon.

I will now return to the Mandolorian blaster as I had some of it done already.

Boba Fett Helmet Complete

I have finished and cut up the Boba Fett Helmet for printing. The main body of the helmet is both in 1 piece and cut up parts. The files atre attached and I'll be uploading them to drop box soon.

Like I said I will now start on the Mandolorian helmet as the geometry is quite similar.

Poll Results and my progress.

I was leaving to post about the results longer than usual as I was expecting more people to vote and the numbers were such that it could have easily swayed what the next projects were going to be.

From the results the projects were the Mandolorian Pistol and Helmet,  Stargate staff weapon, Doom Chainsaw and lastly the Gondor Shield. All in all, a nice selection of different projects.

So as you can see from the above image, this is not the Mando helmet but Boba Fetts. As the t...

A surprise model and your choice for whats next!

While I progressing with the portal gun I was working on the Bioshock Rabbit mask in the background just to break things up. The files are attached to this post and they are in the dropbox links.

As for whats next, below are the options and Ive tried to keep it interesting and hopefully theres something for everyone.

Portal Gun is Complete

I managed to finish this after having a few issues with the surfaces that made me redo some of it. I have saved out the large bodies as single piece and cut up items for different printer volumes. The dimensions for the chamber tubes are just standard sizes you can get off ebay, I will detail them on the drawing which I will be starting next.

Above is a section though it showing the interal cha...

Zorg ZF-1 Drawing is Complete

I have completed the drawing with the break down of all the parts and the main skeleton of the assembly. Its laid out over 4 pages and should cover everything you need to assemble it. I have made a few changes to some of the parts so please redownload the STL's again to make sure you are using the most up to date files.

I will move on to the Portal Gun next as I did a few hours on it on a business trip I was on before xmas and its a relativily simple prop. In a few days I will put up a ...

Zorg ZF-1 is Complete.....about time.

Its taken way to long but hopefully you guys like it, the Fifth Element Zorg ZF-1 weapon is complete and both the STL's and CAD files are in their respected folders. The large main pieces I have saved out as individual large items and cut up small items for the different ways you guys like to print. I will now be working on the drawing as the assembly would need some explaining as there are just soooo many parts that all fix together.

Lets get started

So it was quite a win for the Zorg ZF-1 and as I saw the numbers tick up I started looking for reference images. Found a load of good stuff from the prop store and will take a good long look at Adam Savages build. I will post an update when I have something that looks like the outline of the prop.
