An Update
Added 2024-02-12 03:45:18 +0000 UTCI'm having a hard time leading into it so I'll just cut to the chase and hopefully most of you will understand. Last night I went through all of last month's uploads and out of curiosity crunched the numbers on what I'd have charged for them if they were commissions. I posted about 875 usd worth of artwork last month to an account that consistently only brings in about 300 a month, and after four years and some change I think it's pretty safe to conclude that the frequency at which I upload hasn't seemed to have any effect on that number going up or down, which I don't think is really a huge problem since the whole point of opening this page was to monetize stuff I wanted to draw anyway, otherwise I'd be making nothing off of them. About 37.50 usd per upload assuming I posted the same amount of pics that month is better than taking the time that could have been spent on commissions to draw them anyway and not getting anything for them other than the satisfaction of seeing a bunch of likes pop up in my inbox. So it's not like I'm shaming anyone for not pledging enough or anything like that, it was never as much about the amount of money as it was about taking time to draw for myself and feel good about it, having opened this page at a time when feeling good about anything was easier said than done for me
The real problem I'm having though is that my personal inspirations have been taking me in other directions this past year, ones that aren't necessarily part of the HyperFlannel "brand." I more or less have Blender's sculpting tools down, which is all I need for things like 3D printing, but I also wanna learn how to use its animation tools, I'd like to reinstall Flash on my PC and reconnect with that after having not touched it since I took a class on it in college back in 2017, I'd also like to learn video editing and maybe even start a YouTube channel where I do character design challenges, basically just rip off The InkTank's Drawing Matrix series, and probably more than anything I wanna learn how to use a game engine, as my ultimate dream project for a long time has been making my own indie game (and it looks like what little progress I made with that needs to be started from scratch after all that bullshit that went down with Unity). I wanna branch out and do more than just NSFW stuff, even if the skills I wanna learn to do it can still apply to NSFW; I'd love to do some 3D boob and butt jiggle animations, 2D animations would probably be more efficient to make in Flash than just hand-drawing every frame the old-fasioned way, design challenges posted to the art channel can still be of sexy character designs even if they all aren't, and some of my NSFW OCs were originally meant to be used in a game more than anything (Maria in particular was intended to be the protagonist of a Mega Man clone that was about monsters instead of robots, the context for copying boss powers would be that she drank their blood).
So it's not like I'm going clean on everyone, this isn't retirement or anything crazy like that, I just think it would be in my best interest to reduce the frequency at which I post here and go back to using commissions as my main squeeze. I know as an artist I'm not "supposed" to talk about money or what would be more efficient as far as making it goes, or even having it as a motivator to keep making art in the first place because then I lack integrity or something, a word a lot of people use seemingly without knowing what it means, but the time I'd be saving by focusing on what brings in the money and using that as a means to an end does benefit all of you, because like I said the skills I wanna learn will be applied here too.
I don't wanna unmake the page, even if I can relaunch it at any time with my patrons still in-tact, because it has been a convenient thing to coast on any time life got too busy for commissions, not that I see anything in my life getting as busy as last Summer was any time soon, and on top of that eventually my probably-ADHD-I've-never-been-diagnosed-but-simply-knowing-myself-I-wouldn't-be-surprised-at-all-if-it-were-true will probably drag my ass right back here for the occasional sudden burst of inspiration. So rather than do anything drastic like that, here's my suggestion, and it is a suggestion, I want a discussion on what would be the best thing to do here since my decision affects all of you as well as it does me:
As a compromise for posting less frequently, I make Poll Pics a weekly thing instead of bi-weekly, so four Poll Pics a month, and I'll probably post an extra thing or two of my own accord once in a while whenever inspiration organically strikes me rather than feeling the need to make a deliberate point to think of something to post here. Would that be okay with you or do you have a better idea?
Post 'em if you got 'em.

That would be nice but it wouldn't reduce the amount of work I'm dedicating to here, if anything it would increase it, unless maybe I simplified the pics by a lot, like completely different art style a lot. Maybe if I close the voting much earlier and leave a smaller window I could post wips throughout the week

2024-02-12 17:34:38 +0000 UTCI'm sorry, I didn't explain myself well. The 3 requests that have the most votes will get a drawing (as a podium), so there will be content for the entire week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) It's an idea that I propose to you, if you don't want to do it, nothing happens ^^

2024-02-12 08:02:28 +0000 UTCweekly surveys are great. Have you thought about making the 3 winning applications, spread over the different days of the week? so that your patreon is not so empty on some days.
