SPOILERS! If you haven’t read part 1 of Chapter 14 yet, you should do so before reading further.
Reiko had instructed Diane to distract the gorgon while she moved into position to snipe the monster, but Diane decided to try talking to the gorgon instead. Unfortunately, the negotiation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. It seems the gorgon would very much like to add a pretty “birdy girl” to her collection of statues!
Queen Ysabeau, riding along inside Diane’s head as a psychic passenger, wants her to continue the negotiation despite the perilous circumstances. On the other hand, Diane might be better off cutting her losses and attacking the gorgon instead. Either way, Reiko will soon be in position to strike, and when that happens, she will take the decision out of Diane’s hands.
