If you didn't pick up on it, I think Flexo was also a bit of an homage to the parallel-universe Spock in "Mirror, Mirror."

Unfortunately, part of growing up is the sudden realization of how much they lean into riling up bigots and encouraging toxic nationalism in order to generate interest and money for the matches. (so these jokes are accurate as uncomfortable as it may be) It's better now in terms of diversity, but not as much as I would like it to be. So Jen's right to cringe when she does. I'm a fan of this and even I still do when they do stuff like that on TV that's for sure.

I think Flexo's beard making him the "evil" one could be a reference to evil Spock's goatee in the mirror universe, or just generic evil beard trope. The movie nerd in me bust a gut laughing when I saw Joe Eszterhas as a writer for the All My Cirvuits movie. And yes Raging Bull is amazing.

It was invented in Illinois, but they paid Foreman to promote it, putting his name and face on it. In China, it is promoted by Foreman and Jackie Chan. They sell it there as the Jackie Chan Grill. In one of Hulk Hogan's many outrageous claims, he claimed that he was originally chosen to promote the grill, but he missed their phone call because he was picking his kid up from school, and so they went with Foreman. It's a hilarious thought: "Well, Hulkster didn't answer the phone. We won't try contacting him a second time. Let's call someone else"

Goldust is an example from the late 90s. The Simpsons spoofed this in an episode the reveals Grandpa Simpson used to be a professional wrestler similar to Gorgeous George. That aside, despite stereotypes the wrestling audience these days as a whole leans slightly left. And AEW wrestler Nyla Rose is trans and a former womenโs champion.
