Mortal Kombat (1995) Full Length Reaction

Flawless victory! I felt like a kid again watching this one - tho it definitely wouldn't have been my thing when I was an actual kid in 1995 😆 This one was fighty fun and I'm curious if the sequel is as fun? And there's a new one coming out this year?!

Mortal Kombat (1995) Full Length Reaction

The sequel is atrocious. You can get a laugh out of it for how bad it.

This was a great slice of 90's action definitely campy in parts but it was fun so i will catch up by watching this tonight , fun fact Robin Shou[ Lou Kang] was a Hong Kong Stuntman , Action star and he was the one who trained Milla Jovovich in Martial arts for Resident Evil : Apocalypse .

I watched this in the theater. I was 16 and found some aspects of it to be cheesy. Still fun, though. The soundtrack on the Johnny Cage vs Scorpion underground scene is my fav. I remember thinking, "Man this sounds so much like Fear Factory". Stayed for the credits just to see if I was right. Nobody else sounded quite like them at the time. "Demanufacture" stands as one of my favorite albums of the 90s. Dino Cazares played that chugging guitar you noted. Anyway, about the sequels, I enjoyed the sequels to the game better than the movie sequels. By the time this first movie came out, the 3rd game had just come out. The movie makes use of mainly the fighters from the first game, except for Kitana, Jax (Sonya's partner) and the villain Shao Kahn (who we see at the very end) who first appear in the 2nd game.

This movie is prime 90s cheese in the best of ways, unlike the Street Fighter movie from the year before (though Raul Julia does an amazing Bison).

Yas, Jen! I saw this one in the theater as a teen when it was released and it was awesome! The sequel was disappointing. I didn't follow the game lore so I didn't what was canon or not. But I did watch the TV series and I thought it was pretty cool because it deals with the first tournament with Kung Lao and Shang Sung's past. They cancelled it after the first season but it was so cool! There is a newer movie and there is a new sequel to that movie coming soon, I think. Not to mention the Saturday Morning Cartoon that was around for a sec.
