If you want to experience some top-notch television, check out the Westworld TV series. Season 1 is, in my opinion, among the finest seasons of any show ever.

MaskOfBorro

I like the sequel, Futureworld, even more. was one of my favourites as a kid in the 80s!

On an episode of the 2016 Westworld TV show (HBO), a character goes into the abondoned levels of the "old park" and one of the deativated robots in the background is the Yul Brenner gunslinger - courtesy of Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Good spot of Lwaxanna Troi. I've loved this film since i was 7. I don't currently own a copy of it (i used to have it on VHS from the 80s-00s), which is why i'm not watching your full reaction.

I . . . was about to reply with something cute about ST: Strange New Worlds, but I realized that it would be a spoiler for Jen.

meh

John Zelinka

...and the voice of the computer...

John Zelinka

I think almost everyone forgets her playing Number One on TOS--thanks for mentioning that!

Yul Brynner had quite the presence and this is an iconic sci fi classic , i still get chills when i see that stare from Brynner and then the face comes off . I'm sure it had some influence on The Terminator as well because i've heard James Cameron mention that .

Harvey Lee

Having seen this movie, you might enjoy at least two episodes of "The Simpsons" which pay homage to this film. Both season 5, episode 20- "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" and season 6, episode 4-"Itchy & Scratchy Land" reference parts of _Westworld_.

The main scientist/roboticist was played by Alan Oppenheimer, one of the two men later credited with the role of Dr. Rudy Wells on "The Six Million Dollar Man".

Also, in the 80's and early 90's. I remember smoking on planes, in conference room meetings at work, and while pushing a buggy (shopping cart) through the grocery store.

Clay F

I forgot how much the ending of the Terminator mimicked the ending with the Yul Brenner character

John Armbruster

lol. look at the 70s. Most younger folks would be shocked to see ashtrays everywhere and..... built into the armrests on planes.

TigerMyth

I suspect that they were using the currency values that would have been understood by their audience in 1973, so closer to $7,400/day than to $3,200/day (remember that there was runaway inflation during the late 1970s, which no one in 1973 could have anticipated).

Ken Schneyer

Nice reaction! The gunfighter was Yul Brynner, who had been in lots of westerns prior to this, most notably The Magnificent Seven (1960). Weirdly, this is one of *two* movies in the early 1970s in which a Yul Brynner character dies by burning alive. You were correct to identify the madam as Majel Barrett, the actress who played Lwuxona Troy (and also Nurse Chapel and Number One in TOS).

Ken Schneyer

Yes. Like GOT with dark twists.

🏆 🍺🍺

Jason Scade

You are an Eagle Eye. Or was it the voice. Yes that was Majel Barrett.

TigerMyth

Ok you win. You are older than you look. You recognized Dick Van Patten from Eight Is Enough.

TigerMyth

I needed my Momma to watch him in Westworld.

Yul Brynner,he has a unmatched stage and screen career, check him out in 'The Ten Commandments' 1956 in April ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Celeste McAllister

The re-imaged series is definitely worth a look

LDC7080

Even though this movie came out in the early 70's... it was set in a fictional possible "future" of 1983. No way of really knowing what $1000 in a at-the-time hypothetical future would be worth today... but if it was comparable to the real 1983, that'd be about $3,169 dollars a day.

Just Paul!
