*Regarding Email Notifications: I know it can be annoying to be emailed every single time I post something. You can change your email notifications on the left hand panel in 'Settings' under 'Email Notifications' (desktop)

*Regarding Name in Credits: If you're on a credits tier it can take up to a week to see your name in the credits (though usually within a few days). This is because I sometimes work ahead to get videos ready to post before they go live. If you do not see your name after 1 week please message me and I will make sure to add it. Credits will be listed as your name shows on Patreon. If you don't want your name in credits please message me and I'll remove you from list.

*Spoilers: PLEASE no spoilers in comments or in direct messages to me. No "hints" or trying to lead me in the right direction or asking if I want to know something. The point of these reactions is for me to discover things as I go and to be surprised. Thank you, I appreciate it!

*Replies to Messages/Comments: Across all platforms I now get hundreds of comments and messages every single day. I do my best to return messages but please do not be offended if I do not reply or if replies take a while. Many larger channels hire people to help them answer messages or reply to comments. I read all comments and messages myself, even if I don't have time to reply. If you leave a comment or message please know I received it and I appreciate it.

A few years ago I was invited to a similar type concert where the live orchestra played all the Star Wars film scores while a compliation of SW scenes were playing on the screen beind them. As a bonus, Anothony Daniels (C-3po) was the host so that was also very cool. So very suprised at just how good it was and how much fun we had. I do hope that you enjoy your concert as much, Jen. MTFBWYA!

The Great Escape is one of my favorite movies from my childhood a stellar ensemble cast with one leading star Steve McQueen [not surprisingly he insisted on this ] and Spinal Tap bloody hell my year is off to a great start !!

Harvey Lee

My digital copy of The Great Escape on Amazon Prime in US does not translate any foreign language (e.g., German or Russian) into English in the subtitles but merely gives it in the foreign language. I don't think a problem. While been a long time since I've seen the movie, I don't recall extended conversations in a foreign language. My guess there are two types of scenarios: (1) A single word is uttered in a foreign language, but you know or suspect what the word is. For instance, the German guard yells "marsch" while the prisoners start marching and you can deduce the English translation as "march". I remember the guards will command "raus" which means "out" in English. (2) A few words or a couple of phrases are spoken in a foreign language, but not important to know the exact translation (and maybe the movie intended for the English audience to be unsure, as are the American prisoners). The point is you can generally get the gist of what is being said based on context, body language, sound of voice, etc. My guess is that there are not many occurrences of this but instead the movie is 99+% English.

And for those who on.y prefer the Trim-Jeans version of The Great Escape: 👖. https://youtu.be/fziYCv8ztV0?si=j-sYXwP7fC0gcMiZ

Eric Janssen

Exactly! The worst is when it IS important but they just sub the foreign parts "speaking French" or whatever. Come on!!

Jen M

I hear you're pain for this. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if you're just missing foreign language subtitles, or the foreign language was left untranslated for artistic or immersive reasons.

Thomas Yanez

I do use subtitles on movies for this reason but they don't always include foreign parts. I'm asking specifically if I should be looking for foreign subtitles in certain parts. I have made it halfway through several movies only to find there's 1 or 2 scenes with foreign subtitles missing (even tho English ones are working fine) and I have to stop movie, search for new subs and restart. Really disrupts the flow of the movie. Just trying to avoid that going forward

Jen M

🍻 🐴 +1 for The Wild Bunch. "If they move... Kill 'em!"

Jason Scade

Yeah, that one too. Though it's not really in the mockumentary style.

Joe Blankenship

Are subtitles required on "The Great Escape"? Yes, subtitles are required... for every movie every movie reactor watches so that they have half a chance of picking up dialogue they missed while reacting to (talking about) something that just happened, or asking a question that is in the process of being answered if they weren't asking the question.

Thomas Yanez

OMG omg OMG omg OMG she said "Spinal Tap" OMG omg OMG.

Thomas Yanez

Yes, yes. More, please.

Thomas Yanez

That’s a certain s7 with a candle

Phil Ken Sebben

Damn straight it might be tng worst episode

Michael Tuffin

And "For Your Consideration!"

John DiGiantomasso

I am intensely jealous that you're going to that concert, that sounds like an amazing time!

Jack O

That concert will be sick!

Mark McKeown

Jen, I hope you have an amazing experience seeing LOTR with a live orchestra. A few months ago I saw Charlie Chaplin's 30's classic Modern Times with a life orchestra, it blew my mind and was a transformative experience, making me greatly appreciate music in a way I had not before.

Dominic Smith

Love Captive Pursuit!! Kinda sad Midnight Cowboy and The Wild Bunch didn't make it to the 60s poll. Other than that, amazing week! The Outing is great and I have a feeling Jen will love The Old Man, one of my favorites 😆😆

Carlos Perez

🏆 🍺🍺 The shame is real.

Jason Scade

Aquiel is not

Phil Ken Sebben

Captive Pursuit is a good one

Phil Ken Sebben

11/10 comedy... Missed opportunity.

MrDarkbluman

Every reaction channel watches "Spinal Tap" but they never do the rest of the Christopher Guest mockumentaries--"Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show," and "A Mighty Wind." Same basic cast, more or less. Same improvised hilarity. And Best in Show's got lots of puppy dogs.

Joe Blankenship

The Great Escape AND This is Spinal Tap in the same week? Let's turn it up to 11 😃

Major Peril

Excellent lineup

nick bell

Captive Pursuit low-key slaps. I suspect Aquiel doesn't get much love but I always rather enjoy it also.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I love the Seinfeld reactions (The Outing one of my all time favorites), The Great Escape is a fantastic film and since I've owned the dvd of Spinal Tap for a few months now this will be a great time to watch it.

thansen

YES!! SPINAL TAP!!! I have this on blu-ray. This one is the inspiration for fictional bands (like other faves Dethklok (from Metalocalypse) and Belzebubs) that actually do real-life tours!

Over50Gamer

Looking forward to The Great Escape a fantastic film.

Collinson

No subtitles are needed for The Great Escape. Looking forward to your reaction to Spinal Tap !

To Wa

Good week

Clay F

No need for subtitles. It’s main target audience was English speakers. In a similar genre, You might think about Where Eagles Dare.

Best in Show = Doggies = Jen -> 😍

Thegonagle

Best In Show (2000) is completely perfect for Jen. Mockumentary, the film follows five entrants in a prestigious dog show as they travel to and compete at the show. My fave thing about it is that's it's played completely straight and deadpan. 93% RT score.

Jason Scade

Gotta turn it up to 11 for Spinal Tap!

Matt

😅 All good things... It's been around 2 years for Cool Hand Luke. I've got my boiled eggs on standby. 🥚🥚🥚 👍

Jason Scade

As a German I would like to express my delight that The Great Escape won. It’s one of the very very few older WWII movies that makes the distinction between German Armed Forces like the Luftwaffe (Air Force) and the SS and Gestapo units and even goes out of its way in showing that they didn’t like each other very much.

RX2904

Excellent line-up! I'm super stoked for Spinal Tap which is from the same director as Misery. Tap is a 10/10 comedy, you'll laugh your head off, even the music is good if you like 70s rock. I saw Spinal Tap live, guesting for Queen, at 'The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert'. They were very good. Have an awesome time at the music event! 😃👍 Remember to pack some lembas bread.

Jason Scade

Every time I think of The Great Escape, that theme starts playing in my head. :) Looking forward to it. No subtitles needed.

Damon Corrigan

The Great Escape…a reaction three years in the making.

Julian San

Spinal Tap seems like a perfect movie for you. After he appeared in Spinal Tap, Christopher Guest made several additional Mockumentaries that are worth checking out if you haven't seen them (and assuming you like Spinal Tap). Best in Show might be the funniest, but Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind are also well worth watching. Also, I imagine the Lighting of the Beacons will be super epic with a live orchestra. Gondor calls for aid!

Jackson Bross

SPINAL TAP!!! I'm 110% sure you're gonna love it with your musical background. Only bad thing is I think it's hard to find a streaming copy; no idea why. I bought a digital copy on Amazon years ago and apparently that still works.

Mike Miner

Hey Jen, as far as I can remember the German Armed Forces in the camp all speak English in the movie. Even when they talk to the SS and Gestapo. So no subtitles needed. There is some German spoken later (no spoilers), even though short, subtitles could be helpful there.

RX2904

if you are going to watch this is spinal tap you have to watch waiting for guffman, same crew funnier movie.

rubberkidney

TGE,'The king of cool' Steve McQueen.😎

Celeste McAllister

Hi Jen, I am happy that The Great Escape won. No need for subtitles as it is told from an English perspective. I hope you enjoy your concert.

Steve Aldersley

I don't remember any subtitled parts of The Great Escape - been a long while since I last watched though

Sean Ellingham

Spinal Tap is a surprise but a great one!

Geoff S.

.....not to mention the Seinfeld episodes! Great week!

Toc

No subtitles needed for The Great Escape! I can't wait for you to see Spinal Tap!

Toc

Spinal Tap! Kick ass!

Tom W.
