Our first Christmas movie of the year!🎄Now I'm wondering just how many Scrooge adaptations there are out there. I was happy to see an 80's version with an always sassy Bill Murray finding his Christmas cheer! YULE love it 😂😂 MURRAY CHRISTMAS!

@Chris Biebel My guess is Carol Kane did that deliberately ! This wouldn’t be too surprising given what we know of Bill Murray Ah ha ! 😁 Great treat for a first X-mas movie of the season Jen Murray reacting to Bill Murray in Scrooge’s directed by Richard Donner ( Lethal Weapon) which we can call a Christmas movie 🌲too (yes it is) Cheers🫶

Harvey Lee

Thank you, Bright Angel, Mss Jen, for all your hard work and the joy you bring.

Clifton Owens

For a second I was worried but you did say he's a good boy.

TigerMyth

Yeah, the redemption is kinda weird. He was such a huge a-hole before and during the ghosts, I don't understand why Claire would ever want to go back to him.

Joe Blankenship

I always forget that Miles Davis is in this.

Just a bit of trivia on this. Apparently Carol Kane at least once actually hit Bill Murray instead of faking it as you're supposed to do when filming. Also, the guy who played Bill Murray's brother was....Bill Murray's brother (Brian Murray). It's funny how you mention two ghost partners for Scrooge. It makes it obvious that you are thinking of the Muppet Christmas Carol (there was only one business partner ghost in the original story). The reason that the muppets used two business partner ghosts was because they were using Statler and Waldorf for the role, so they needed to make it two.

Chris Biebel

I think she saw the Muppet one but I second the Patrick Stewart one, especially since she's a fan of Captain Picard. That George C. Scott one is great, too. People are most likely to know him from Patton and Dr. Strangelove.

Around the 15 minute mark, when the street band is playing, on trumpet is none other than jazz legend Miles Davis. Also, the scene at the restaurant just before he meets the Ghost of Christmas Past: The actor who played the waiter played Socrates in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

My favorite adaptation of this classic Dickens tale are the Muppet Christmas Carol as just a fun take on it. For a more serious version, I enjoy Patrick Stewart's 1999 made-for-TV version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216621/ I also enjoy the 1984 made-for-TV version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087056/

After Bill Murray threw water on the waiter and he slipped was not in the script, Murry just slip in the floor he got wet but he stayed in character so the keeper it in.

Casey Dixon

I have the biggest crush on the ghost of Christmas present. She's hilarious.

Patrick

My favorite Christmas Carol adaptation was the animated Disney one with Mickey Mouse and the (introduction?) of Scrooge McDuck.

Julian San

The puns, the puns, have mercy!

The way Bill Murray is acting the ending seems like a psychotic meltdown more than a change of character. The only real problem I have with this movie is that the first half, when Billy Murray is an asshole, is way more funny than the second half. Same problem as Groundhogs Day.

Noremac

The man playing the muted trumpet on the street was the legendary Miles Davis, along with other greats - saxophonist David Sanborn, David Letterman's musical director and proud Thunder Bay native Paul Shaffer, and jazz guitarist Larry Carlton. 🎺🎸🎷🎹

spacious_recroom

In regards to the scene with the waiter on fire; Richard Pryor infamously set himself on fire, which is why Bill Murray made that reference.

You should check out The Holdovers 2023 amazing christmas drama

Not sure if you recognised her but Claire was Marion from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Another 80's movie of hers that is cool is John Carpenter's Starman with Jeff Bridges.

“You! Who was talkin’ through the whole movie!” Me? Yes, Jen. You! Lol This is one of my favorites. So many references in this movie to my childhood days. Carol Kane makes me crack up every time she beat up on Bill Murray 😂 So much fun watching this again. Thanks to everyone who also voted for Scrooged!!! 😇🎄

NYG316

This is one of my favorite Christmas and I watch it every December and one of my favorite adaptations of A Christmas Carol. There is a version from 1984 starring George C. Scott and David Warner that is great and Patrick Stewart starred in a 1999 TV movie version.

Wade Wallenstein

You know, I’ve watched this movie so many times in my life, and this is the first time I realized that Grace is played by Alfre Woodard. Anyway, this is one of my favorite Christmas movies, another great example of Bill Murray playing a character that’s absolutely terrible but somehow has a magnetism about him (just like Groundhog Day).

Paul Peavler

Humbug! (Who am I kidding, I'll be watching asap) "Murray Christmas", nice. :P

Jason Scade

"Well, Charles Dickens would've wanted to see her nipples then" 😆

Carlos Perez

Love this wonderful masterpiece of a Christmas movie🎄🎄
