Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) Full Length Reaction

Deadpool and Wolverine together at lasssssttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so fun to finally see them together and this just felt like a profanity-laced nostalgic love letter to superheros! I'm sure there were tons of references I didn't get to movies I haven't seen, so feel free to enlighten me but keep it spoiler-free in case I decide to watch some!

I'm regretting making this suggestion now, only because I was reminded of how little you (Jen) may remember of the earlier MCU movies. There ARE flashbacks of those earlier movies in the Loki series, so you may have to watch from Iron Man all the way to Endgame to really understand everything that Loki (actually Thor is where Loki first appears) goes through. (He really is a "low-key" important figure in the MCU (see what I did there?)) πŸ˜‰

Over50Gamer

Chris Evans really shows his acting range with the Johnny Storm character vs the Steve Rogers character. Nothing alike, but he plays them so convincingly!

Over50Gamer

That and WandaVision; it's also a must-see. The others could be taken or leave alone. (I did like Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, and Agatha All Along.)

Over50Gamer

Agreed! I had mentioned the MCU to Jen in Discord, but I think she saw them in passing (they were being seen while she was doing other things, so she saw parts of them) and I didn't think she wanted to feature them on the channel. But yes, i would be welcome to watch these with Jen. Those movies are just that good, where even a rewatch to fully take them in would be so welcome!

Over50Gamer

TILL HE'S 90!!!!

Andrew Hafey

Great reaction, you clearly enjoyed this even if you missed some of the easter eggs/fan service. I think you'd enjoy the MCU movies, at the very least up to Endgame and I'd certainly watch those reactions.

Alexis

And Ladypool is his wife (not sure if that was mentioned either). Oh and Cowboypool is Matthew McConaughey.

Alexis

I am sure Hugh will be back as I bet he had a blast with Ryan and these movies would be so different than what he did. I tear up when Ryan says at the end "I waited a long time for this team up" because 4th wall aside I know he really meant that line. Watching the MCU would be nice, I don't really care for them anymore but Infinity War and Endgame are great. If so you should let us know at the start what you haven't seen at all and what you have seen but with muddled memory.

Andrew Roach

The marvel movies - Iron Man to Endgame - are definitely worth a watch. No idea you hadn’t seen them!

Chief

Cheers mate

Gambit explanation. Channing Tatum who plays Gambit here was in negotiations to play him in the Fox X Men universe years ago and really wanted the role but it never worked out. So a lot of the humour revolves around that.

Collinson

Bit late but I use VLC and turning it back to 96 speed seems to work. Seems some "Versions" we acquire run a little slow or fast.

Collinson

Yep!

Excellent, lively reaction / review. So many laughs! A Scottish Deadpool. πŸ˜β€πŸ–€ I bet he'd kill for haggis crisps. A really great Ryan Reynolds tense drama/mystery is 'Buried' (2010). 'Brightburn' (2019) is a solid super villain origin story / horror movie. I can't see them not making more Deadpool and/or Wolverine flix, they're cash cows. Will the final post credits scene for D&W get on YouTube? Yes, I think it'd be great to re-do the older Marvel movies that've you've semi-seen. Deadpool --"I'm soaking wet right now." πŸ˜… "Took his 'hair system'." πŸ˜… "Well, guess what? I have a black belt. In Karen." πŸ˜… "The superhero equivalent of Molly." πŸ˜… "Put your greasy tits away, you preening slut." πŸ˜…

Jason Scade

Yeah, but did you see the Scarlet Witch statue?

Joe Blankenship

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but "Kidpool" is Ryan's daughter. I'd also be down for your MCU reactions. :) Keep it up :)

Lean

You should watch Loki. It's one of the best Marvel TV series out there.

Patrick

Aside from the wardrobe issues and not being disgusting enough (all that drinking and smoking, plus more than 100 years of road-wear, Logan smells TERRIBLE, just like the animal he's named after), my biggest problem with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine until this movie is the way he fights. In the movies, the only reason Wolverine wins all his fights is because he literally can't die, but regular people with no powers get WAY too many kill shots in on him. Wolverine loses his healing powers a few times in the comics, and he's still hard to beat because of his samurai/black ops training and his enhanced strength and reflexes. Wolverine's healing powers also do nothing for pain, so he's not gonna let every idiot he fights shoot, stab, or hit him cause even though it won't kill him, it all still hurts like a bitch. Like they said in the earlier comments, Wolverine made his comic debut fighting Hulk. Wolverine is strong, but he’s nowhere near as strong as Hulk, so he’s not gonna give the green guy a good fight by being easy to hit. After 24 years, this movie finally gave us a live-action Wolverine with a costume that’s not just β€œMatrix” cosplay or homeless β€œDie Hard”, and is a grizzled angry drunk, and actually fights with some get-up-and-go. Great reaction as always, but you have a lot of catching up to do with Marvel/Avengers content! Looking forward to it?

Connor Hall

Since no one mentioned this... in the opening dance number the Deadpool dancing was done by the guy that choreographed the original NSYNC video, so that's why it's so good.

Tim Arnold

First watch for me. I have never read comic books. I have watched a few Marvel movies. Never watched The Avengers series. I essentially never watched X-Men until this year I watched a few X-Men movies which were mixed for me. I liked Wolverine (Logan) character -- I am a Hugh Jackman fan. I've now seen all 3 Deadpool movies and my ranking is 1, 2, 3. I did like 3 (this one Deadpool and Wolverine). I liked the one-liners. I liked having Wolverine Good to see X-23. I liked the ending. As for the Deadpool movies, Ryan Reynolds is stellar. He does that character so well. Seems such at ease in the flow with that character. I can't imagine anyone else but him as Deadpool. "Pegging isn't new for me friendo, but it is for Disney." "You'll never see a Danish flag on the moon, but g*ddamnit they're happy." "F*ck the Avengers." "Look, mijo."

Clay F

If you can't tell - this movie was meant for people like me.

2 other quick "blink and you'll miss it " Easter Egg jokes on the movie: 1st is when they get thrown into the shoe store, "Liefelds Just Feet". This is a poke at one of the creators of Deadpool, artist/writer Rob Liefeld. He famously could not draw feet well. Incidentally, he helped create the characters of Cable, Domino and Shatterstar as well. (Deadpool 2) The other Easter Egg is on the bus which Jen saw. Stan Lee Steamer. Stanly Steamer is a real cleaning company. However, in true Deadpool comedic style, there are multiple gross definitions of what a Stanley Steamer is on Urban Dictionary.

During the montage of Deadpool searching the timelines looking for another Wolverine, it paid homage to some iconic Wolverines from the comic books. In comics, Wolverine is canonically 5'3 and is often referred to as "runt" by his brother, Sabretooth. The James-bond looking Wolverine is an alias used by Wolverine named "Patch" (because, eyepatch) in a fictional city named "Madripoor", modeled after Singapore. Madripoor is in the MCU and is a setting in "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" mini-series. The one-armed, everything-burning Wolverine is from a comic series called "Age of Apocalypse". He lost his hand fighting an alternate version of Cyclops. Wolverine debuted in Incredible Hulk #180-#181 and wore the costume we wears in this Deadpool movie. The costume he wore in that scene with Hulk was from comic book artist John Byrne in 1981. The reflection of Hulk in his claws is a famous comic book cover by Todd McFarlane (Incredible Hulk #340), one of the most famous comic-book artists ever, early in his career. Todd is the creator of the Spawn Character, one of the founders of IMAGE comics, and founder of Todd Toys, home of some of the highest quality collectable action figure sculptures in the world. The scene with Wolverine crucified on an X on a field of skulls is the iconic cover to "Uncanny X-men 251", where he is captured and tortured by an anti-mutant group, The Reavers, who were cybernetically-enhanced humans. You saw a little dash of them in the LOGAN movie, and Lady Deathstrike was a member as well. She is in the X2 movie. The old man who shot Wolverine is from another spin-off comic series called .... Old Man Logan. Vastly different story and timeline, but they incorporated part of that story into the Logan movie. Incidentally, in that story, Wolverine was eaten by a 3-story tall version of the Hulk - and then Hulk was killed when Wolverine sliced his way out of Hulk's stomach. The Cavillrine is not from any comics - but his 'arm-cocking' before punching deadpool is taken from his scene in "Mission Impossible: Fallout". (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obpzIPd6RSg&t=32s)

So it's important to know that this movie was meant as a bridge between the 20th Century Fox movies, Daredevil, Blade, Fantastic Four and most prominently the X-Men and the Disney/MCU stuff. The TVA is from the MCU, specifically the Loki show so that explains all the Avengers references and tie-ins. The rest of the movie really exists as a love letter / good-bye to all the 20th Century Fox stuff that will not be making the journey to Disney, culminating in the Green Day montage. Speaking for myself I would love for you to do a watch/rewatch of the MCU in order similar to the LOTR trilogy since you have said that you've seen bits and pieces but don't have the whole picture.

Kane

There's a line where Blade says, "I don't like you" and Deadpool responds, "Never did". Both of them worked on Blade III together, and Wesley Snipes famously was very difficult on that set, and apparently really didn't like Ryan Reynolds in real life.

Mastervodo

That end credit with Chris Evans was so epic. He really channeled his inner Dennis Leary with that monologue. I love it!!!

Vwlss Nvwls

I saw this in the theater in San Diego when Comic Con was in town, and it was amazing. The audience was cheering and clapping and laughing. So great. And I think Blade was the biggest cheer of all. You are right, this was a love letter. I did not have a lot of comics growing up, only Spider-man, but I watched the original X-Men cartoons. And Rogue and Gambit were always my favorite X-Men (because Wolverine was always like a villain in some of my Spider-man comics). So I was so happy to see Gambit the way he was in this one.

Vwlss Nvwls

The reveal of Chris Evans as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) would have been much better for you if you had seen the first Fantastic Four movie where he played that character. I loved Cassandra Nova. The actress played her perfectly. I was in awe every time she was on the screen. I love that goodbye to 20th Century Fox. And I do hope they make more Deadpool movies, though I worry, because MCU has been fairly disappointing lately.

Vwlss Nvwls

Yes, please research the actual MCU timeline and watch it all like that, I've already done the theatre release, it's time to watch how it was actually laid out, probably starting with 'Agent Carter'.

JPDotCom23

For sure this movie was for the superfans of Marvel movies, comic books, pop culture and fandom in general. I think it's still funny even if you don't "get" everything, and you really don't need to watch everything this movie after the fact to enjoy it. Because really, explaining the joke after it's already told isn't as funny.

Mastervodo

The thing is, Nicepool is the only one without the disfigured skin, so probably likely he never went through the process to get the superpowers.

Mastervodo

That was Blake Lively as LadyPool, and Matthew McConnaughy as CowboyPool

JPDotCom23

The 'Daredevil' reference is to Jennifer Garner's relationship to Ben Affleck, who played 'Daredevil' (2003)

JPDotCom23

Something funny to look for on a re-watch is that, because he doesn't regenerate, Nicepool's superhero suit is actually body armor.

Tim Heron

Such a wonderful thumbnail, laughing Jen is a magnet to hit that play button and enjoy the ride . For me this was the weakest of the three movies but watching for the 2nd time with Jen will be so much fun my view may change πŸ™‚ . Won't have time to watch until the weekend though but really looking forward to it πŸ”₯

Ian

Ok, I guess you didn't know Chris Evans also played Johnny Storm in the first 'Fantastic Four' movie

JPDotCom23

Well since you don't recognize TVA, you haven't watched 'Loki' yet, you need to get to that if you want to continue on the MCU road.

JPDotCom23

Ladypool was played by Blake Lively, Robyn Lively's sister from Karate Kid Part III

Carlos Perez

LOVED the reaction!

John

Thanks for this Jenn. You watching this means all my favorite reactors except one have watched it.

Cody Cameron

You're going to have to watch Loki, Jen. A lot (a LOT!) of references will make sense, including the whole Sacred Timeline stuff. Loki and Wandavision are the two best parts of the MCU recently.

Chris Cebelenski

Late at night for me but looking forward to watching this tomorrow.

Collinson

Jen: I needed some time after Logan. Us: 😬

Joe Blankenship

Try adjusting the playback speed of my reaction or the movie, sometimes that helps!

Jen M

Loki goes deep on the TVA. Totally worth watching even if not for a react video

Jeremy

Anyone else experiencing sync issues or is it just me?

I will say you should watch the Loki series... it explains the TVA a LOT. That being said, this is a great, brilliantly done movie and is THE movie that completes Deadpool's official entry into the MCU proper.

Over50Gamer

Seeing this in theatres on opening night was such a fun experience.

Dylan

Finally! lol About to settle in for the night and watch now. πŸ‘πŸ»

First time watch for me!! Gonna open my blu ray now πŸ˜†

So excited! Will catch tomorrow eve. πŸ˜€ Hope you are feeling better soon.
