The Cabin in the Woods (2011) Full Length Reaction

Comments

Really excellent reaction. That's another medal of honor for you. You'd probably (mostly) enjoy these horror suggestions, they aren't too heavy. Cube Brightburn 13 Ghosts The House on Haunted Hill (2000's remake) www.jenmurrayxo.com

Other movies like this(clever commentaries on horror movies that are more fun/funny than scary) are YOU'RE NEXT and ONE CUT OF THE DEAD. Both were my favorite experiences in a movie theater with enthusiastic crowds. They're both surprising blasts.

The real tragedy is the chem department gets blamed for screwing up Marty's drug regimen, when it was really a basic research failure. Curt, the "athlete", is the "scholar", look at him giving Dana that helpful study advice. Dana, the "virgin", is the one who slept with her teacher. Jules, the "slut", is really the "fool", she has a goofy side that occasionally comes through all the stupid-and-sexy-drugs they're giving her. Holden, the "scholar", is the real "athlete" if you just look at him catching that ball. They seem to have been fooled by his glasses. And Marty, the designated "fool", is obviously the "virgin". If the director hasn't shown up to try and convince Dana to kill him for the greater good, maybe that werewolf would have saved the world. (Of course it is a ridiculous world built by people living in fear of immortal giant trashy horror movie fans, so it's probably for the best.)

It "should" be Pinhead, they just couldn't get the rights, I read in at least one interview. It's an inspired replacement, but I think it's better to just pretend those saws are pins.

Amelie W

Okay I'm very late to this but you know Joss Whedon from Firefly he created that. He also created a show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer that if you haven't seen it would be a great show to react to.

Collinson

I think Sawhead was definitely an homage to Pinhead (or The Hellpriest) from the Hellraiser series. I don't think Jen has watched that, but (if you're reading this Jen) the first and second one are definitely worth watching. The rest can be left alone, but the fourth one is also a fave of mine (and really should have ended the sequels!)

Over50Gamer

Before I first saw this, I assumed it was your basic "teens getting killed in the woods" movie. The title alone makes it sound pretty basic. I never saw a trailer for it. I only heard by word of mouth that it was pretty good. Then when it starts off with Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford, I knew it was gonna be interesting. Those guys are hilarious.

Winston the Party Cop alone makes it worth watching. And Eli Roth is no more of a hack than Tarantino

Respect the Cockerel

Terrible film made by ahack

I am not sure of any other more direct references but I think "Sawhead" with the sphere Rubiks Cube may be referencing Pinhead of the Hellraiser horror series and you can see two little girls in one of the numerous cube cells which reference the two girls in the Shining. The clown makes one think of Pennywise as well.

Andrew Roach

Unicorn: brutally stabs man to death. Jen: "I still think unicorns are nice"

Anthony Peterson

Yes, Jen, bring on the Swear Jar counter! (I might actually use this idea for my gaming vids)

Over50Gamer

I completely agree.

Justtired

I'm glad you mentioned that! I really dont mind anyone swearing during tense and shocking scenes. It's only human to react that way. And Jen is one of the most authentic reactors out there!

Over50Gamer

Thank you for doing this one Jen; this is another of my horror favorites because of what it is. It pays so much homage and little winks to the usual horror tropes while giving an unusual perspective. I may watch this tonight or tomorrow... had a hell of a week and I'm so tired from everything.

Over50Gamer

Great show! I'm glad you liked it Jen!

Mastervodo

I'm not even a big horror guy but this is one of my favourite films. I've always taken the 'Who else is watching"/"Gotta keep the customer happy" as a comment on horror audiences just as much as management downstairs.

Patrick

Such a meta experience and definitely original it helps to be a horror fan , i do love my horror movies and i look forward to this with relish !!

Harvey Lee

I’ve never seen this before either, so I was expecting some kind of slasher and i definitely wasn’t expecting this πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Ciarra Jade

Please, never apologize for swearing. Your reaction was real and honest. That’s why we follow you. Great reaction as always

Justtired

Definitely look at the whiteboard full of monsters and ghoulies! I think Fornicus, Lord of Bondage and Pain, is my fave.

Jack O

I KNEW you were going to like this one! One of my favorites since it came out. Such a unique twist on horror and smartly produced. Great reactions here, too. 😱😳 You're probably remembering Joss Whedon because he's the creator of the Firefly series and Serenity which you viewed on the channel some time ago.

Major Peril

Looking forward to this! I've seen a lot of horror and when I went to this one, during the opening scene I kept feeling more and more like I must be in the wrong movie.

This movie is a blast, but when I saw it on the schedule I did worry that it might be a little over the line for you, glad you enjoyed it!

Kane

EXCESSIVE swearing? Can't bleeping wait to watch this! πŸ˜„

Opti_Frog

Now I'm even more excited to watch your reaction πŸ™‚ awesome that you enjoyed this so much that thumbnail though lol epic πŸ”₯

Ian

Loved the reaction, Jen! I saw it in the cinema at the time and i know for a fact i knew absolutely nothing about it, but i also cant remember what i was that made me go see it either. But it really blew my mind how its not what you think and the over arching plot, really cool! Btw you may have heard of Joss Whedon from Buffy, some Marvel stuff or that he did the first cut of Justice League (before Snyder Cut).

Mark McKeown

One of my favorite "breaking the mold" movies of the past 20 years.

AMusing Streamer

Cabin Fever (2002) is a darkly comic postmodern homage to the cabin in the woods genre

Respect the Cockerel

That was a blast! Was this the most swear-y reaction you've done? You need an F-bomb counter on screen for some of these scary ones.

Stephen W. Evans

This is my favorite horror movie that I have seen in the last couple decades. Glad you enjoyed it too :)

Harold Wright

What is happening to you, Jen, is you're mentally leveling up. You're starting to feel what us hardcore horror fans get out of a good horror movie. Bravo! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

Mr. Writhms

Yeah, this is the only horror movie I will voluntarily watch.

Brian Leonard

haha awesome i knew youd enjoy it, it's very much on the scifi sides of things!

Mark McKeown

Haven’t seen this movie so it will be fun watching the full length with you
