Quick Poll: The Abyss Version
Added 2024-09-15 01:21:27 +0000 UTCHey guys! The Abyss (1989) won this week's poll. I'm excited! It was suggested in the comments that I do a poll to choose the version we watch. I have access to both versions but not sure which version is more available in other parts of the world.

On Apple, at least in the US, the theatrical cut is the "main" version, but the Special Edition is included in the extras if you buy it. Not sure about rental.

2024-09-16 17:16:12 +0000 UTCIt looks like the version that's available for free on Disney+, and also the version you can buy a rent from Apple TV, is the theatrical version (2:20). But for some reason the Apple TV poster art says "Special Edition." (do you get both with one purchase?) Over50Gamer points out that the Special Edition (2:51) is available for rent or purchase on YouTube. I thought the special edition was definitely better. You watch it and you say "Oh, yeah, that makes more sense." But I don't know how to reconcile that with the difficulty of obtaining it compared to the Disney+ version which is "free" for anyone with Disney+.
