Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) Full Length Reaction

OMG wow what a step up from #1! The music killed, the action was intense and the story was bleak but not as depressing as #1. Anyone want to see #3?

Movie runtime: 1:35:30

The fact is, this franchise follows the traditional trilogy arc... 1st is the best, 2nd slightly worse, but appeals to a wider audience. 3rd one is a dopey kids film.

Action movies that stepped it up like this did were fairly new at the time, they'd consider stuff like 'The French Connection' an action movie, now look how much they've evolved since then. It's because of movies like this and action movies like these that our attention span for movies have gotten shorter and shorter, we insist on being entertained at this level. I wasn't much of a fan of the first one, didn't get around to watching this one until shortly before 'Thunderdome' came out, that's when I finally got to appreciate, and yes, you should watch the third one.

Big yes to part 3, my second favorite of the original trilogy.

1000% You haveto watch part 3. Thunderdome is a really interesting cap to the original trilogy because it's the moment that Max becomes a myth. By the end of 1, he's infamous. By the end of 2, he is Legnedary. By the end of the 3, he becomes a myth - and anything past that is part of a story told from genertation to generation. We don't even know if Max is the same or if his tale is a bunch of people rolled up into one. But Thunderdome is also a fitting end because Max gets to see civilzation - real civilization start back up and how Auntie Entity refused to let this spark of progress die out, even if she has to become the villain. And that's what's cool about her. She is Max - somewhere down the line if he chooses to stand firm in one place and take on all challengers. Plus you get to meet the Children of the Oasis and see the lights in the city calling Max home. Like Moses, his people await him but he'll never make it to the promised land.
