Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) Full Length Reaction

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

SAVE FERRIS! This one was so awesome!! An iconic performance by Matthew Broderick, killer music, a hilarious low-key MVP (Ferris' sister) and just a hundred little off-beat comedic moments that make this movie special. I really loved it!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) Full Length Reaction

There's a fan theory that this movie is akin to "Fight Club". In that Ferris is just an extension of Cameron. Like his confidence and charm. Whereas Cameron is just all self doubting and cautious.

I love this movie. I love just about everything about this movie. One summer when I was home from college I worked at the Sears Tower skydeck and every day--multiple times a day--people would want to climb up on the railing and lean up against the windows "just like in Ferris Bueller" and we'd always have to tell them not to do that. I love the music as well. John Hughes talked quite a bit about the music in his audio commentary for the DVD. My favorite is the music from the Art Institute scene. The cover of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want feels so perfect, nevermind it's one of my favorite songs.

Does anyone else feel uneasy when Ferris drives the Ferrari?

First, you talk about loving musical breaks in movies, yet you still haven't seen The Blues Brothers, which has an amazing amount of fantastic music in it, as well as some surprising cameos. In fact, I've seen people argue whether you can classify it as a musical (Some suggest that a true musical has people singing when they wouldn't realize that they are singing, but would this movie qualify under this definition? There's a scene or two that might qualify). Some people you didn't seem to recognize: The principal was the father in Beetlejuice. The principal's secretary was the woman at the rental car booth in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The teacher saying "Bueller...Bueller...Bueller" was a former speech writer for Richard Nixon (No, really, he was, although he did turn to acting later). The order of Jennifer's Grey's most famous movies are: Red Dawn (1984), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), and Dirty Dancing (1987). All released when I was in high school. I was kind of upset when I saw some recent pictures of her and saw she got a nose job. IMO, there was nothing wrong with her old nose! Unfortunately, Hollywood tends to distort what people consider to be beauty, resulting in various types of plastic surgery that doesn't need to be done.
