Patriot Games (1992) Full Length Reaction

'You get him, Jack. I don't care what you have to do. Just get him.'

I just wanted to check this one out! A Harrison Ford thriller with a James Horner score, I enjoyed this one! Anyone interested in watching the next one in the series Clear and Present Danger?

Patriot Games (1992) Full Length Reaction

Comments

Only recently, director John McTiernan said he and Alec Baldwin, who have Irish backgrounds, didn't want to do 'Patriot Games', they were working on adapting 'Clear & Present Danger' when the studio and producers decided on 'Patriot Games' instead, and, because of the Irish nature of the story, Alec Baldwin and director John McTiernan opted out.

Novels are better. I would not waste your time with going after Cleare and present danger. Movies take a dive. They are not true to the books. and the new stuff is disgusting

Okay, I made notes :) When watching The Hunt for Red October, you saw Jack's wife just for a moment - played by Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher from TNG) and also his daughter in the beginning of the movie. As for the house, if you read the books, you will quickly find out that Jack is VERY smart, and made a pile of money as a stock trader before the books start. But the books do give you his back story, so I won't spoil anything. The books are quite amazing. Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Sum of All Fears and Clear and Present Danger are all pretty good reads. Be prepared for a lot of politic stuff- Clancy likes to write pretty lengthy essays in his books about the different political agendas and systems his books deal with. He also goes into a lot of technical detail about the weapons and technology that are featured in his stories. Those four books will get you hooked and you will read others. :) The movies play fast and loose with the timeline order - don't worry about the order of the movies you watch - just know that the books follow a very strict timeline and the movies don't match. That being said, they are fairly episodic and self contained, so it isn't so important. Lastly, Jack as a field man. He isn't. He is very tactical, and highly trained militarily as well as very intelligent. When they say field agent, they are talking about the operations side of the CIA - spies, operations, etc. Jack is from the Analysis side of the house. He understands field work, and sometimes he gotta do what a guy gotta do, you know? But as far as being an actual agent and making good decisions, he just wasn't trained for that. Hence his blunder going into the bar to get intel. An actual agent would have done things a little differently to get the intel he needed. In this case, it didn't matter, and he got the intel anyways. When you read the books you will get a better glimpse into the CIA - at least from Clancy's viewpoint. Great reaction! I look forward to more! I love being a patron of yours! Keep up the good work.
