I joined the Marines in 1980 and went though boot camp in San Diego. R. Lee Ermey was very convincing as a drill instructor because he had been one in real life. Going through boot camp, 13 weeks at the time, was by far the most difficult thing I've ever done, overall. Actually being in the Corps was the greatest adventure of my life. To all my brothers and sisters I say, as always, Semper Fidelis!

I was an infantry dropout in the British army but I found being shouted at and told what to do surprisingly easy! Decided it wasn't for me and dipped on week 12 right before bayonet training(we all heard rumours you'd get 'beasted' all week so I dipped at the right time.)
