Stargate (1994) Full Length Reaction

A million years into the sky is Ra, sun god, sealed and buried for all time.

*I watched the version that is 2hr10min!*

Winner of last week's poll! This one was so fun! Aliens, stargates, hieroglyphics, pyramids-- yes yes yes! I want to check out another Roland Emmerich with some destructionnnnn, what about Day After Tomorrow or 2012?

Comments

Loved your reaction, as always. I too, appreciate the music and composer.

I thought streaming was supposed to make our lives easier, I constantly get frustrated by having to find who has a movie on streaming, and usually it ends up being renting only... often for movies I already own on DVD or Bluray where I really don't want to pay for it again just to see it on my computer. I never even get to think about "is it the extended edition?", I've usually given up by then.  🤣. And now we know the actors and writers aren't apparently getting any of that rental fee either.... so why give it to the studios

I apologize for watching the extended version, which is apparently tricky to find. A friend sent me the ripped file from the dvd they own and I didn't realize there were multiple versions until afterwards. I will be more careful to choose versions in future that have a stream/rent option online.

I've always liked Stargate and I enjoyed your reaction, Jen. (It was a bit tricky at times syncing up my 2 hr 1 min version with your 2 hr 10 min version but I pulled it off without too much trouble.) The music is epic and David Arnold won the 1995 BMI Film Music Award for it. I saw the film when it first came out and I can hardly believe that was nearly 30 years ago. For its time, the special effects were mind boggling (at least to me). I enjoyed both The Day After Tomorrow and 2012, although DAT was the better of the two. They both had some amazing effects. I think you would enjoy them. Also, if you haven't seen "Arrival (2016)" with Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker, that is an AMAZING film. Run, do not walk, to watch and react to it! 😊 ❤
