🗳️ Weekly Poll #27

Winners of last week's poll were 🏆 Stargate + The Running Man!

These are all movies from my HUGE list that I personally would like to see. These polls help me narrow down my own choices from a list of hundreds so thanks for your help

Movies not chosen may be back on future polls or watched later in schedule.

Vote for as many as you like! (This helps me know how much interest there is in each movie)

I find it hard to believe that Caddyshack squeaked over the finish line in front of 2001 while Sherlock Holmes came in a distant third.

William

yeah Barry Lyndon is a much livelier, more compelling narrative as far as Kubrick goes. and also very very funny!

Chris Wright

Ooohohohohoo it's time for Bill Murray vs an animatronic gopher

Tim Christensen

My parents took me to see 2001 on first release when I was 7 years old and it shook my world! My friend took me to see the 50th anniversary IMAX rerelease in 2018. Add the countless times I’ve seen my own copy and the sum total is … ≈ lost track! If you do see this, know that Kubrick made it to provoke thought (like any good art). 🤞for more votes!

David Olden

I'm watching a 65" tv 🤷‍♀️

Jen M

Much as I love 2001 and Presidents men I don’t think there great for reaction 😳 so Game of Shadows for me young fella me lad 🤣👍👍🇬🇧

richard burns

2001 is the scifi movie to watch, however, you might want to consider keeping some trees nearby for smoking during the more meditative parts. It is more of an experience than a movie.

Not “shame”, it’s just a generation watching The Sting or Butch Cassidy for the first time, and saying “THAT’S Robert Redford? From Captain America 2??” (I never thought I would hear fangirls now begging reactors for “Jeremiah Johnson”.) The Reactor-verse is just STARTING to get into gritty Golden-Age 70’s movies that aren’t Jaws, Rocky or Blazing Saddles, and All the President’s Men is a tight, gripping suspense thriller to go with its high school modern-history.

Eric Janssen

I would normally vote for 2001 easily. But Jen’s setup seems pretty modest and not the best way to see that film. Sort of like watching Lawrence of Arabia on an iPhone.

DrJonasVenture

That's because Crank is a terrible B movie that should be watched on likes of RLM? No offense, but that movie is OUT there.

Astraeos

So little love for All The Presidents Men. It is older and a talking had movie, so I can understand. shame.

PickettsChargingPort

And he never actually was allowed to finish it...

Dan Guisinger

Don't count All the President's Men out just yet-- Even if the "young kids" don't remember Watergate, there are quite a few unsettling Trump parallels today, and even without history, it's a darn good journalistic suspense thriller. Redford and Hoffman convinced an entire generation to get into newspaper reporting.

Eric Janssen

Honestly shocked at how few votes Crank has. Of things to vote for to watch a “reaction” to, I thought it’d be higher… admittedly I voted for something else not going to win so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2001 is definitely one of Kubrick’s most under appreciated films. For some reason it gets lost in the shuffle. Is also one of his longest running time films. Almost 3 hours 15 minutes. This would be a great follow up after watching Dr. Strangelove.

Joe M

2001 is good if you need to go to sleep. yawner

zynjams

Caddyshack... already picturing Jen dancing to "I'm Alright" Plus it's just a perfect summer movie. The other selections are all great but Caddyshack is perfect for July.

Mike Miner

More tough choices, Jen! I have no doubt whatsoever that "Caddyshack" will win, and it's a good comedy, but not on a par with some in the list. "All the President's Men" (a young Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman) is one of the best political/historical movies ever made, but I doubt that many of your patrons remember Watergate, so they might not be terribly interested. (I'm not putting my fellow patrons down; I've said before that I'm probably "the old guy" in the bunch!) Anyway, the movie is fascinating, even for ppl who (I emphasize this) don't give a rat's fanny about politics. Moving on, however, you simply must do "2001." It's best seen in the theater, but it's still an utterly fantastic film in whatever form you see it. It was and is a true work of genius, as pretentious as that sounds! Please watch it, even if you don't react!

William 1611

Can't go wrong with a comedy classic like Caddyshack! All the President's Men is as good an intelligent drama as you can ask for.

Retro Maven

2001 is my all time favorite film since I saw it on the screen when I was 12… but it’s like a trance. I wonder what you’d think!? All The President’s Men is another favorite that I’m sure you’d love… I think you’ll also be amazed by how clearly it was an influence on David Fincher.

Jeff Preiss

If i had to predict, i'll say Caddyshack is taking this. We'll see 😁. Its another movie I have memorized lmao 🤣

Carlos Perez

CaddyShack for the win!!

Gary Poussard

Yikes, another tough poll...

ArsTropica

Stargate started a whole franchise (which retconned the movie a tiny bit) and The Running Man has a killer 80s synth soundtrack. Looking forward to that. For this list, I’m really rooting for 2001 and its sequel 2010. Really good sci-fi right there.
