Comments

Sometimes, it's really nice to just watch something silly, especially in this day and age. Love it!

Thomas Wilkinson

This is some of the cleverest movie writing I know. It's still funny if you don't know the references and have only a vague idea of Bond... but oh man, what a genius bonus if you know the references. And I'm sure there are plenty I don't get - I haven't seen shows like Jason King or Danger Man for years. Maybe time to revisit them!

Jon Anderson

I don't think I've seen you laugh as much before Jen! I remember when this movie came out all the students at the college campus where I was doing some work were doing lines from the movie and humming the theme song! BTW the first sequel is as good if not better than this one!! Well done!

A couple of references outside of the James Bond films: Austin watches the movie "In Like Flint" which (along with "Our Man Flint") were 1960s spoofs of spy movies (probably not worth watching unless you are working on a PhD in spy movie spoofs). Near the end, when Austin is stopping the bomb/drill, you can hear the theme song from "Secret Agent" (aka "Danger Man"), a British spy show from the mid-60s. This show was significant because of a sequel called "The Prisoner". That might be a good TV show to watch on the channel. (According to IMDB, the star, Patrick McGoohan, turned down the role of James Bond, suggesting his friend Sean Connery instead.)

John Bresnahan

I don’t think I can adequately convey how much play this VHS got in my house during high school. Daily viewings. Sometimes twice daily. I knew this movie COLD.
