🗳️ TV Show
Added 2023-06-04 19:41:57 +0000 UTC
Let's do a couple polls to help me narrow down the huge list of tv shows I'd like to see.
Vote for as many as you like! (This helps me know how much interest there is in each choice)
** Note: I still watch 3 movies every week regardless of which tv shows I'm watching! **

"Jen's fans fair" sounds like it should be a Renaissance Faire. Which makes me wish she covered the MCU since the show Hawkeye covered LARPers.

(And I just repeated "Jen's fans fair" over and over for the latter alliteration. My neighbor's have called the police and I'll be subject to an eventual Karen video.)

2023-06-06 06:07:50 +0000 UTCThere is another option on the table here if an entire series is called for, and it would be a great option as Jen has already done her homework here, I’m thinking STRANGE NEW WORLDS with captain Pike and crew plus Season 2 is just about to launch, and we all could watch new episodes together, I personally loved season 1 and so looking forward to season 2.

2023-06-06 03:10:52 +0000 UTCHaving seen the 1960`s (Mission Impossible) Tv Series, perhaps you would like to take a look at the 1960`s (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.). It was I believe, the earliest U.S. spy show to take advantage of the success of the Bond films, starting in Sept. `64. Another possibility is the first parody Spy show created by Mel Brooks, starting a Yr later in Sept. 65, (Get Smart).

2023-06-05 21:22:04 +0000 UTCActually I have a suggestion: I think you should do the "choose as many episodes as you like" poll, then take the top 50 vote getters from that one and ask people to pick their top 10.

2023-06-05 19:50:44 +0000 UTCPicking a "top 10" from either TNG or DS9 is going to be a lot harder than picking from TOS for two reasons: First, each of those series has more than twice as many episodes as TOS. Second, both TNG and DS9 took some tremendous artistic risks and came up with amazing, original things in terms of writing, directing, structure, etc., and it's hard to know which piece of originality to recommend. (There's also a tendency among old fans to do the "you can't see this until you've seen that" thing, which can cause someone to slog through some pretty mediocre stuff in order to be, I dunno, "qualified" to see beautiful stuff. There's some pretty mediocre stuff in TNG, especially the first two seasons, before the real artwork begins. Just fretting...)

2023-06-05 19:16:39 +0000 UTCYou could get away with a top ten TNG for seasons 1 and 2, but they really hit their stride in season 3 and while largely episodic, there are larger overall story arcs that you'd need to see the entire seasons to fully appreciate. I'd like to throw in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as another Trek suggestion. They did a great job reimagining what TOS would be like if it were made today and it's set while Pike was Captian, before Kirk's era in TOS.

2023-06-05 17:03:45 +0000 UTCTNG is episodic, but half the fun is watching the cast bond with each other as the show progresses. You could pick one or more episodes from each season, but it would take more than 10 episodes total to enjoy the series.

2023-06-05 08:42:34 +0000 UTCTruth is, you can do this for TNG and Voyager, and maybe seasons 1 and 2 of DS9. But at that point DS9 went from episodic to arc driven, unlike the other Star Trek shows. They literally play out a 5 year arc centered around an intergalactic war. Some of the absolute best Star Trek but really should be experienced as a whole. IMHO, of course.

2023-06-05 06:43:44 +0000 UTCI'd really like some Star Trek TNG (leave DS9 and VOY for awhile) the problem is that 14 episodes of 79 barely scratched the surface for Galaxy, races, and characters in TOS. Even a Top 20 would barely be 10% of the episodes. I'd suggest starting out with a Top 25 and go from there. The people selecting the Top 10 for TOS did a very good job introducing things Jen needed to know, and fortunately she has a basic working knowledge of the Star Trek universe now. In the meantime, I suggest the series "Eureka"
