Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Full Length Reaction

You always were a cunning linguist James 😂

I was sooo happy to hear the Bond theme music coming out in full force in this one -- plus TWO cool theme songs! A super cool badass chick sidekick with her own gadgets and lair + a villain with a sneaky boat and a media empire. Suave Bond was back with his one-liners and I'm so glad he teamed up with Michelle! Looking forward to the next one soon!

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Full Length Reaction

Comments

Loved the reaction, and the movie was even better than I remembered. When M releases a statement at the end that the media mogul fell off his yacht, audiences at the time would have been thinking of the infamous death of real life media mogul Robert Maxwell, a rich, powerful and generally hated newspaper owner, who fell off his yacht and drowned in 1991... the subject of endless lurid speculation at the time.

Great reaction Jen. I also enjoy when the theme music is used more when Bond is doing his thing. Since you enjoy the spy movies, I wonder if you would enjoy the tv series Burn Notice. It was on back in 2007 and ran for 7 seasons. Maybe you can put it up on one of your upcoming tv polls or just react to the pilot and see if you like it.

Dan Hughes

It's worth noting that the British naval crews have a great cameo percentage - Hugh "Downton Abbey" Bonneville is in there, as is the SS commander ("And this is how we say goodbye in Germany, Doctor Jones") from Last Crusade... and - for just one line - Gerrard Butler!

Tim Christensen

Bond was in his Commander uniform in "You Only Live Twice" & "The Spy Who Loved Me". Bond theme gets me hyped also David Arnold did an incredible score for the movie "Stargate". As far as Goldeneye, the producers insisted on a rescore during the tank chase with the Bond theme..the original music was not thrilling enough. Tomorrow Never Dies is a better song..but it became a marketing thing by that time with whoever was the popular singer at the time.

Alberto Blanco

Definitely one of the most underrated Bond movies in my opinion. I like it quite a bit, and think it's only more relevant these days. Michelle Yeoh is always a badass, but I'd forgotten just HOW beautiful she was in this movie. Jonathan Pryce as the villain was maybe a bit too hammy, but only just a bit. He definitely looked like he was having fun :) And this movie definitely has one of the better pre-credits sequences, right up there with GoldenEye.

Patrick Egan

Exciting reaction! 💜 The director is Canadian-British, btw. But that name... Roger Spottiswoode?? That's as bad Octokitty. 😅đŸ˜č

Jason Scade

*Sigh* Michelle Yeoh. Ermagerd - one of the most underrated movie babes of all time, probably because she's too busy kickin' ass most of the time for people to stop and notice just-how-gorgeous-she-is (on that note, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is an absolute must for your list - a beautiful story, beautiful performances, beautiful cinematography, beautiful music and beautiful choreography - it is, in a word, beautiful, and for someone in your business I'd go so far as to say *essential*). As for Tomorrow Never Dies, I don't think I ever realised as a kid (as I was when the Brosnans came out) just how good this one is - always liked it, but I guess GoldenEye overshadowed it for me. But in hindsight, everything about it is more refined, and you can definitely see the polish on things more than you could with GoldenEye. Also one of the best henchmen lines ever... "I could shoot you from Stuttgart, unt still create ze proper effect, ja?"

Tim Christensen

If you want to learn lock picking you could send away for a kit. Someone I work did this for a hobby while stuck at home during the pandemic

Paul M

you never disappoint Jen!

Allen Bond

Yes, David Arnold did a fantastic job with his Bond scores as the next best behind Barry. And his song with K.D. Lang absolutely should have been the main title, as it's far better than the Sheryl Crow song, imo.

We have just one more before we say fairwell to Q.💙💧💧💧
