Zodiac (2007) Full Length Reaction

Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it's not true.

Ooooh this one was good! I was very caught up in the mystery of it all and found the whole investigation really interesting. I think this is a movie about obsession and the thoroughness and attention to detail was really cool. Great cast who gave great performances. Are there more investigation movies I should check out?

**Note: I watched the Director's Cut which is 2:42:35

Zodiac (2007) Full Length Reaction

Comments

100% that the movie isn't the usual mystery story. It's messy and the details don't always fit, like the real life it's based on. So the tale is more about the people involved in trying to unravel the mystery, and the cost it has on them. Fincher does such a great job with tension! Night Crawler from 2014 is a good Jake Gyllenhaal film, another disturbing psychological kinda story.

Other Gyllenhall movies I would recommend are Donnie Darko (2001), Jarhead (2005), Nightcrawler(2014) and Eeverest (2015). Keep it up :)

FYI, FIncher's Dragon Tattoo was a really good remake but I also strongly suggest watching the original too

warcrimes

Yes, that was Goose (Anthony Edwards). "Gotcha" was a sort of Cold War Spy flick of his from the 80s, that I always liked. A little light hearted and cheesey in parts, but a fun one. Also he was one of the leads in the first two of the "Revenge Of The Nerds" movies. You should at least see the first one.

Richie Cabral

Two back to back movies that Jen reacts to are both set in San Francisco, Zodiac and A View to a Kill. The next movie she reacts to, Robocop, is not set in the Bay Area. She's breaking the pattern.

Ian Cano

Enjoyed the reaction Jen :). If you're interested, there was a significant development about a year ago by a group of cold case workers comprised of retired detectives, FBI, forensic experts etc.. They named a new primary suspect. You'll find the info easily with Google.

Not sure if anyone ran into this. But I watched it on amazon, it was really hard to keep it synched up. I think the version on amazon might have extended scenes or something. I would have it perfectly synched and then suddenly it would be way off even though the times matched. Still a great time watching with jen though

Looking forward to this reaction and also glad to hear you'll check out Girl with the Dragon Tattoo since it was a close poll! I would also say Mindhunter on Netflix is incredible if you like this kind of content. It's a few years old now (and very sadly they aren't making more seasons) but it's really excellent.

Erik Stevenson

Such a good movie. That basement scene alone is better than a lot of horror movies lol. Low key surprised Jen hadn’t known anything about the Zodiac Killer before watching this movie. Detective Toschi had two movie characters based on him, Bullitt & Dirty Harry. Maybe that kind of notoriety gets to your head, as evidenced by the letters he DID write. Anyway, great reaction as always.
