This movie was crazy!! Sooo much gore and those bugs were gross but I loved all the action! Great music and they even squeezed a steamy love scene in there. I wonder what happens with the Roughnecks next-- is the sequel any good?

I loved the "censored" signs and how they kept going back to a news broadcast. Too good!

2023-03-29 23:02:47 +0000 UTC1) This movie was made just as everything was going CG and has a mix of both quite good CG and amazing practicals. Holds up well today 2) Two regrettable tattoos? Is one of them a big Ren & Stimpy on the back of your neck? A game of noughts and crosses above the hairline? :) 3) The thing I love most about this movie is that the source material, the novel with the same name by RA Heinlein was a long philosophical treatise wrapped in a sci-fi cloak. There's a lot of contention about it, but from my reading (about 20 years ago) Heinlein was espousing pretty much everything that was satirised in the movie. It seemed to me a rousing tale in support of fascist militarism. It was well written but very disturbing because of the author's apparent world view and I love that it was turned into a fun satirical movie.
