Spider-Man (2002) Full Length Reaction

With great power comes great responsibility.

This one was so much fun!! While Tom Holland will always be my Spider-Man, I actually loved Tobey in this, and his chemistry Kirsten Dunst too! I would love to watch Spider-Man 2, what do you guys think? 🀟

Spider-Man (2002) Full Length Reaction

OK Jen, can you explain it to me??? What is it about the upside down kiss? I just don't get it. Please explain it. And...for the record...Women back in the day, really really loved this movie...especially the kiss. (please explain it...I am oblivious)

Carlos Stevens

wwwwweeeellllllllll... I understand... "Toby McGuier is a weiner." I understand. But he did a good job portraying Spider Man in the 3 movies he did. To be honest (as an old school collector of Spider Man comics...this was the closest adaptation of the original comic books.

Carlos Stevens

Fair enough, but I thought it was a relatively minor detail in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not a fan of Raimi's choice to give Spider-Man organic web shooters. But, it made for some great humor much, much later

Spiderman was probably one of my favourite superhero characters growing up. I used to watch the 80's Spiderman and his amazing friends cartoon the most. I'd love to see a live-action of that, just for the nostalgic vibes. In my teens, I saw the 70s Spiderman movies. Take a glimpse at a clip from one of those in your spare time. At the time it was hard to conceive of the level of visual entertainment that we have today. I do feel that for the majority of the time the narrative has kept pace with those improvements. I remember being so impressed with this film when I saw it at the cinema. Much like X-Men, so many great aspects of both the visuals and delivery of the story had been brought to the superhero genre, in ways I hadn't seen for a long while. Superhero films had often been more of a miss than a hit over that span. Marvel began to break that trend a little before the MCU got into full swing. Certainly in a way that the likes of DC have never been able to consecutively repeat in the same fashion. I believe that it is a fairly popular opinion that Spiderman 2 is even better, so of course I would very much like for you to continue the journey. 🀟🏻 Go Jen Go!

This is without a doubt the most comic book accurate version of Spider-Man ever. And I think think the best version of Spider-Man ever. Although, Andrew Garfield was a really good Spider-Man as well.

I saw this in the theater as well, but the day before I it I had watched Sam Raimi's "Darkman" on cable, and was surprised how many scenes were so similarly done between the two movies.

I prefer the Sam Raimi films becasue they are so true to the comics. But the Amazing Spider-Man movies are very true to the comics as well, they just were not as well put together as Raimi's films imo.

When I still had Disney+, all I watched on it was the MCU movies. I finally had to decide that was not enough for the monthly fee. I might just pay for another month or two in order to re-watch them all again. :D

BTW, in the burning building scene, maybe the mother was coming to pick up her baby from the sitters house. There are always other reasons for things. :)

I saw this in the movies when it came out and it was awesome. It was this movie not Iron Man that really got me into Marvel Movies, Iron man was just the icing on the cake, but for me this Spiderman with Tobey Maguire got me there. Tobey Maguire will always be my fav Spiderman 😎

In the comics Peter creates a web shooter and web formula, which is portrayed that way in the Andrew Garfield films. I understand why they didn't do it in this one, because there was no time for it likely.

Vwlss Nvwls

It can happen. My mom had a brother that was 22 years older than she was.

Thomas Yanez

One thing I never understood since I was a kid reading the comics is why Aunt Mae and Uncle Ben were so old. It's almost like Mae was 20 years older than Peter's parents. I don't recall that age difference ever being explained.

Vwlss Nvwls

Sam Raimi also directed the movie "Darkman" and if you watch it back to back with this movie you can see a lot of similarities in how it plays out.

Vwlss Nvwls

The part of Green Goblin was absolutely made for Wilem Dafoe. No one can ever play that character as well. The casting overall was phenomenal, every one was just like in the comics, especially Aunt Mae & J.J. Jameson.

Vwlss Nvwls

I am 53 years old, and for about 45 years of that time I have had a glow in the dark Spider-Man light plate on the light switch in my room every where I have lived. I just keep putting it up any time I move. :D

Vwlss Nvwls

TLDR; I like all the different iterations of Spider-Man, but this series is my favorite of them all. I am torn on which Spider-Man movie series is best. I overall prefer these Sam Raimi films because they feel more like the comics and cartoons I grew up on. The Andrew Garfield films are good, and still feel a lot like the comics, especially since he has a web shooter and not webs coming out of his body. And finally Tom Holland plays the best Peter Parker, and these movies are visually exciting, but I dislike just about everything else about them because they are so far from Spider-Man lore.

Vwlss Nvwls

Yes, please do a rewatch of the Marvel MCU films also the marvel Netflix shows.

Christian Benitez Ugarteche

As long as you eventually get to the Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield, my favorite of the Spider-Man films.

David Crabtree

You should also watch The Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 as well. They aren't as good as the Sam Raimi Trilogy, but they are still fun.

David Eldridge

Love Bully McGuire! Yes on Spidy 2 & 3 Jennyβ™‘ the strongest marvel avenger I think is the Hulk moody guy! My favorite is Thor because he's Chris Hemsworth! πŸ˜πŸ’™
