Added 2024-01-01 09:59:01 +0000 UTC We are not just our body Or our thoughts, mind, or intellect We are not just our beliefs or our values We are not just our gender or our community standing We are not just our disabilities or illness We are not just our relationships or our roles We are not just who other people think we are Or who we think we are We are not just the objects we own or desire Or the things we want to achieve We are not just our work or our life purpose We are, of course, all these things, and more When we leave our physical bodies We live on in the hearts and minds of all those we have touched In every way, even the subtle ways Without needing to speak a word We are intimately connected and continue to be Death is an odd word; it speaks of finality and in a way its true But in a way its not; for while there is life there is connection We are connected to those we see and those who we do not see Old friends we don’t see and new friends we do Long lost Grandparents and newborn babies This is why we celebrate a life not just in its finality but also in its eternity
