Late to the party again. I'm doing a lot of catching up on your reactions. I guess this before you did ST:TNG. Beverly Crusher played Ryan's wife in the first part of the movie. ;) The Admiral of the aircraft carrier was Fred Thompson, who also played the DA for a while on Law and Order, and who quit acting and was actually my US Senator. The other guy in the room, the Captain, was Moriarty in Data's London Sherlock Holmes holodeck program on SG:TNG. Also Lt. Commander Thompson on the Dallas is Anthony Peck, Gregory Peck's son.

I love this movie. It is easily the best Jack Ryan movie. Don't get me wrong, I think the others are good as well and would definitely recommend them, but this one is exceptional, in my opinion. Gotta say I am enjoying your reactions, 007 specifically. Keep it up.

Life is funny like that isn't it? You never know where it will lead you! I definitely want to watch Patriot Games :)

Ok so a little bit of backstory here. It's around 1992, I'm around 12 years old and my family and I were coming back from a vacation when we had a flat tire. It took so long to get the tire fixed that we were too tired to make it home so we pulled off and got a motel for the night. On HBO that night was The Hunt For Red October and right from the start I was mesmerized by the story. From there on I fell in love with Tom Clancy's books and the subsequent Jack Ryan movies that would follow (and yes you need to follow up with Patriot Games). Clancy's stories became some of my favorites to read as I grew up as a teenager in the 90s. So if It hadn't been for that flat tire I probably would have never opened myself to the world of Tom Clancy and Jack Ryan.
