2022-09-11 17:23:06 +0000 UTCAndy Weir who wrote the novel was not a scientist, but the novel has been praised for its scientific accuracy in many areas, his botany, for example is on the nose, most of his fixes" pathfinder ect. could work. The slingshot that the Aries does to go back to him is how NASA sends probes into the outer solar system with a minimum of fuel. It causes an increase in the velocity (and orbital energy) of the spacecraft relative to the primary body (In this case the Earth) However, Mars has a thin atmosphere, so the first storm could never develop that kind of force and truthfully he could not survive that long on Mars without radiation shielding of some kind but they sacrifice that for the story and I think its a good choice.

As for next Matt Damon movies, definitely continue with Jason Bourne franchise, Le Mans '66, Departed, Elysium and True Grit.
