Batman (1989) Full Length Reaction

Never rub another man's rhubarb.

This was a fun one! Jack Nicholson stole the show as Joker + Michael Keaton was a great Batman! I'd love to keep going and watch Batman Returns if you guys are interested?

Thank you guys for being here, you are the best! 😊

Batman (1989) Full Length Reaction

Johnny Dangerously is hilarious and a lot of fun. I vote yes.

Well this was fun as usual. The design and comic book aesthetic is what I appreciate firstly. That black on yellow just pops and is what I first think of for the look if the costume. I did grow up watching some of the 60s TV show reruns. Can't say that they ever really appealed to me, even as a young child. This film's design for the Batmobile and Batwing are still my favourite. I had a remote control car of this Batmobile as a kid. It became more of a ornament than practical toy, as the thing only seemed to want to do was go around in a circle as soon as you switched it on. It only had a lever for back and forward and I couldn't seem to get the hang of controlling it. It sat on my windowsill well into adulthood. Jack is The Joker for many. There seems to be two very effective ways to play this character in film, that I've seen. Though not too dissimilar in a lot of ways. Jack's unbalanced madman, where the character's frivolity plays as much to a comedic edge as it does to the unpredictable lunatic aspect of the character. Something that is very effective. Obviously I shan't get into the other now. That's something I look forward to at a later date. Batman Returns is a worthy follow up. While I can definitely see you having fun with BM Forever and BM&R. I'm fairly sure that many would be ok with skipping over those for Nolan's adaptations.

Yes to Johnny Dangerously (1984)

First off, definitely check out the sequel, Batman Returns. Second, another phenomenal Michael Keaton movie you must see! Based on a true story even! β€œThe Founder” (2016)

Mr. Mom and Gung Ho are 2 of my favorite Michael Keaton films!

Let us not forget "Night Shift" (1982).

Mr. Writhms

I haven't seen him in that much but I'm starting to see his versatility!

Great watch! Enjoyed watching along with you. The sequel, Batman Returns, is a worthwhile watch. I'm not a fan the the remaining sequels, however. Jack Nicholson played such a convincing psychopath in The Shining, so he was a natural believable Joker. He knocked it out of the park. As for Michael Keaton, I had been so used to his comedic roles that when it had been announced that he was to play Batman, I was scratching my head at that. I mean how can a funny man play such a serious role? Boy was I pleasantly surprised. You remember Keaton in my first movie request, My Life (1993), another serious film, but I whole heartedly recommended some of his comedies: 1. Mr. Mom (1983) 2. Johnny Dangerously (1984) This one is a spoof of mafia/gangster films. 3. Gung Ho (1986) 4. Beetlejuice (1988) A good comedy for Halloween season. Keaton is certainly a very versatile actor.
