Total Recall (1990) Full Length Reaction

Hey Quade, you ever frig a mutant?

Witchfinder General

Or was the whole thing an implanted fantasy and none of it even happened?

It looks like you had little difficulty following along with all the twists and turns and double-crosses and multiple names and multiple identities and possible alternative realities thrown at you during the movie, Jen. As I recall (pardon the expression), I found the movie quite confusing my first time watching it, which is not something I expect from an Arnold movie. In fact, I still can't say I understand the motivations of all the characters or the decision of the aliens to construct but not activate the giant reactor. Questions such as, "How did Doug know how to start the reactor?" and "Why didn't Ronny Cox's character encase the reactor activator in 50 tons of cement to prevent anyone from destroying his monopoly over air?" may never be adequately answered. Anyway, another entertaining reaction from you, Jen.

So many great Arnie 1 liners

“See you at the party, Richter!”

Just another classic! They tried remaking it a few years ago, predictably it's nowhere near this one in quality. I can barely remember watching it :D Lots of cool little details to make you question what's real - all the stuff Doug requests at Recall is in the movie. You even hear the tech back at Recall remark to himself "Oh wow, blue sky on Mars" as he reads the details of the implant. Doug writes "Melina" on the poster to check the handwriting, which matches his own, so he knows it was written by Hauser. Thanks for picking this one up, one of those movies I can always rewatch as it's so much fun!

Welcome to the universe of director Paul Verhoven! He’s well known for his intense sci-fi and thriller flicks. Along with “Total Recall”, the must-sees in Verhoven’s filmography are: “Robocop” (1987- sci-fi) “Starship Troopers” (1997-sci-fi) “Basic Instinct” (1992-crime thriller)

Makes me wish I had 3 hands...
