Beverly Hills Cop (1984) Full Length Reaction

Comments

I can't add much to what has already been said. But I don't know if you noticed, but the main thug was Gunderson, the radar guy in Chicago, in the movie Airplane!

Greg in East TN

Thanks Robert! I'm having a blast checking out 80's movies, definitely more to come!

Finally got around to watching this one. Just a great, super fun 80's movie. One of Eddie Murphy's best. I agree Cop 2 is worth watching. Not quite good as this one but still fun. 3 is just all bad. Having grown up in the 80's I love watching your reactions to these movies.

Robert Avila

LOL! I loved Serge in the art gallery, soooo funny!! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Jen M

I haven't watched this reaction yet. This should be fun. I saw this 4 times in the theater when it first came out. The 2 funniest things I remember the audience reacting to were..ย  "You like espresso, I make it back there myself with a little lemon twist, itโ€™s good."ย  "Tell him that Ramon went to the clinic today, and I found out that I have, um, herpes simplex 10, and I think Victor should go check himself out with his physician to make sure everything is fine before things start falling off on the man." Good times.ย

Thanks Marcus!

I agree with Brian, Cop 2 is good and definitely worth a watch, but 3 is pretty bad. A nice companion for Beverly Hills Cop is 48hrs and its sequel, Another 48hrs. They are also early Eddie Murphy movies. They are slightly grittier, but still just as funny, although some language and references may be dated. Still a great comedy/action pair and it rounds out that part of Murphy's career before he started more family friendly films

Marcus Jeter

Nice! I'd like to see #2, I heard Paul Reiser is back ๐Ÿ˜†

Jen M

Definitely check out BHC 2. Itโ€™s more of the same, doesnโ€™t reinvent the wheel, but still a blast. Great villain in part 2. Stay away from 3 though. They actually did try to reinvent the wheel in that one, tried to make Axel into a more traditional action hero, and it failed miserably, one of the worst sequels ever made.

Brian Harris

Soooo good!! ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽต

Jen M

LOL totally!! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

The song Neutron Dance by The Pointer Sisters in the opening to the movie where Eddie is in the back of trailer that is being chased by cops is one of my favorite combos of scene to music. If I ever get in a car chase in my life, Neutron Dance better be preloaded on whatever vehicle I'm in.

The instrumental that you kept hearing that you wondered if it was created specifically for the movie is called Axel F. It became an International Hit in 1985.

Matt O'Keefe

Nice! I have National Lampoon's Vacation coming up, my first Chevy Chase movie! I'll add that one to the list

Jen M

Really glad you liked this one. It's such a fun movie and the music never gets old. The second one is almost as good, but the third one is not, sadly. Another movie with music similar to this one and has the same fun crime solving vibe to it, is Fletch w/ Chevy Chase. Hope you eventually get around to watching that one.

Krucifus

Omgggg YES -- SOLD! Lollll๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Jen M

Thanks Justin! So glad you enjoyed, it was so much fun! Looking forward to #2

Jen M

Yes!

Tyler Gorash

Oh nice, I haven't heard of that one! Thanks!

Jen M

Oh that's cool -- is Eddie Murphy in it?!

Jen M

Oh, never heard of that one. Thanks Daryl!

Jen M

I used to rent this movie over and over again back in the day. Glad you decided to watch it. Great vibes as always Jen! The second one is great and the third isnโ€™t quite as good but still worth watching! Look forward to the next one

Justin Terry

I love this movie so much and love your reaction to it! I am so happy you loved the music because it's part of the reason I love this movie so much. When I was a kid, buddy cop movies were my thing... and the axel foley theme song was(is) on my list for top five favorite movie theme songs ever! I would definitely watch the second one. I may be a bit biased because it's from one of my fav directors, but would it sweeten the deal if I said Paul Riser gets more screen time? :) ps the thumbnail is spot on

MattN

Loved this reaction! Murphy's first movie was "48 Hours" (1982) which made him an instant movie superstar, after being a hit on TV's Saturday Night Live. Since you liked this, you really need to see "48 Hours".

Mr. Writhms

BHC 2 definitely but BHC 3 is very so so. Iโ€™d skip it. Did you know theyโ€™re making a BHC4 for Netflix?!

Tyler Gorash

I was going to watch True Lies this evening, but had to bump till tomorrow when this dropped with just enough time before bed. I adore this film for all the same reasons you did. Obviously I enjoy Axel, but I love Billy just as much. Another comedy for the list with Judge Reinhold. โ€ขRuthless People
