Added 2022-05-27 22:33:36 +0000 UTCHey guys, any interest in a reaction to The Batman? Been hearing it's awesome!
Also -- do I need to watch all the other Batman movies first?

Agree - you'll learn everything you really need to know about Batman through Nolan's films (and they are very good besides, particularly the first two).

2022-05-28 23:15:07 +0000 UTCI absolutely want you to watch this movie, but I do also STRONGLY encourage you to watch Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy first, as a good introduction. As others have stated, you do not need to watch the other movies to understand this one. But seeing as you've never seen a Batman film before, the Dark Knight trilogy is a good starting point to give you base knowledge of the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne. "THE Batman" assumes you already know him and/or his background.

2022-05-28 21:12:35 +0000 UTCLOL that's what intimidates me-- so many people love or hate these movies, but I suppose I'll never make 100% of people happy with my reactions!

2022-05-28 13:48:52 +0000 UTCNever seen any Superman stuff before 👍

2022-05-28 13:47:42 +0000 UTCAlso, in the spirit of starting discord over other DC characters. Please tell me that •Superman 1978 is one of your first forays into that character? As that •Man of Steel monstrosity is Not Superman! 🤣 😉😁

2022-05-28 04:56:38 +0000 UTCWith such varied opinion, maybe it'd be best to skip this Batman character altogether. 😆 But seeing as the poll is currently in favour by a large margin. My two Pennyworth... (pun intended those in the know) Agreed that you could watch •The Batman without having read a comic, graphic novel, seen a TV episode or watched one of the many many many films. 😞 It is a technically a stand alone, but much like the Nolan trilogy, it will be part of a series of films. I did like certain aspects of the film. But like has been said. To a certain degree, one may find it more enjoyable with a better foundational knowledge of the character. But that isn't essential by any means. As the Nolan films are completed and like this series will be. Are part of their own individual series of films that don't require you see all the others as well. Perhaps start there, then you can dip your toe into other depictions. Of course, then stand back at let us fight it out in the comments. 👊🏻 POW! 👊🏻 ZAP! 👊🏻 BLAM! 👊🏻 BOFF! 👊🏻 KAPOW! 👊🏻 For which is the Real! Truer! authentic adaptation. 🤣

2022-05-28 01:41:10 +0000 UTCI agree with Gideon that The Batman is definitely a stand alone film, however it doesn't give much of a backstory into who Bruce Wayne is and has allusions to other important characters that you might not pick up on. If you know a little about Batman already I think you're fine but if you know absolutely nothing I would at least watch the Nolan Batman trilogy beforehand, those films really assume you know nothing about Batman and are a great introduction. The Batman is a really great film but it does presume that you already know Batman and his backstory.

2022-05-27 22:56:21 +0000 UTCYa it's intimidating to jump into movies with such intense fandoms and haters! I'm interested to see what Batman is all about 👍

2022-05-27 22:48:39 +0000 UTCNot at all Jen. The Batman has nothing to do with the other movies. It's a stand-alone in its own part of the DCU. It's an awesome movie and Batman is the ultimate detective in this version.

2022-05-27 22:45:50 +0000 UTCThe Dark Knight (2008) & Batman vs Superman are very good.

2022-05-27 22:45:22 +0000 UTCThis movie is aweful why do people like this???

2022-05-27 22:43:20 +0000 UTCListen, Batman has been around since the 1930's or so, and everyone has their own Favorite. Campy 1960's era Adam West? Some folks set this as THE BAR for what Batman should be! Caught Michael Keaton in '89? Loved it? Then that's your Batman. Enjoyed Nolan's take with Christian Bale? He's your Batman... Barring a trilogy, and a duet (Keaton made 2)and the most recent "DCEU" series with Affleck... there is no real continuing story... So you can watch whatever you want, and enjoy the Bat however you want. But the fan Bois all have opinions... And they always have! I think the current DCEU is 6 films? Someone correct me?

2022-05-27 22:41:49 +0000 UTCNo you do not need to see any of them necessarily. They are good though, and well worth it. I'd definitely watch if you do it 🙂

2022-05-27 22:40:08 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, no, as it's a completely different "universe" and not connected in anyway. I do recommend watching the Dark Knight trilogy first, but I'm down for whatever you'd like to do :)

2022-05-27 22:37:52 +0000 UTCDo I need to watch all the previous Batman movies first before the new one?
Jen M
2022-05-27 22:36:53 +0000 UTCIt's a very good film. For me, Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy is the best, but "The Batman" was still very good.
