Ep 2 did a bit more world building + I'm really getting curious about all the Sup's powers + abilities + how they got them!

Maybe we'll get this explained later or just figure it out, but I'm just watching along, and my thought is, why Hughie kills Translucent is a very important question. I think he realizes he doesn't want to "keep his hands clean" as the poster says. Not that he wants to get dirty, but he has more important considerations, namely to put a stop to A-Train and probably the relentless general corruption he's beginning to see goes deep in the bones of the whole superhero industry, and he sees a possible way to be able to do that by joining Butcher and his boys, and to fit in in that world he's going to have to get dirty. Very symbolic what a mess he makes with his first murder. Alternatively, it occurs to me now, it could be as simple as really keeping his hands clean. Living with the gratitude of a guy like Translucent, making himself complicit in the things the supers get away with, would maybe be a lot worse than being covered in the results of an ass bomb or two.
