Honestly, the MVP should be shared by Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, because the General should get the Low Key MVP for forcing Tom Cruise into the situation that eventually won the war.

Thanks! I really enjoyed this one 😊

Great reaction Jen, thanks!

In the book, the origin of these aliens was dealt with in detail. There were machines sent to xenoform (terraform) the earth to suit the purposes of those who sent them. The mimics were created from nanobots, produced by those machines, that multiplied using starfish as their hosts. They adapted to everything that was thrown at them, and being part machines, they got their names.

Thanks Justin! Ya this is such a fun movie, I loved it!

Jen M

So glad you watched this one! In my top 3 most under rated movies. It was fun to watch this again with you. Great job as always and keep up the awesome vibes Jen!

Justin Terry

Ohh good question

Jen M

Lol Daryl! You're too funny 😆😆 Thanks for trying to make it!! 👍👍

Jen M

Oh I tried last night with this one. My fault, I poorly judged how tired I actually was, no body wants to watch a movie with matchsticks propping ones eyes open. Old man down and out for the count. 🤣 Zero reflection on you. I was initially thrilled with how gripped you were with the concept and captivated by where it was going. 😑 I'm not asleep, I'm just resting my eyes. I heard every word you said. Oh na, is that 6am now? 🤣 This is definitely one of the better examples of Tom's current trend of films. Works best to going in blind. As you liked this, you may enjoy Source Code, if you haven't seen it ready. Miniscule side note, that I did clock in the beginning. 😴😯 🤫 Owe, nope. You didn't just refer to that Irish General... as British... 😆 😜

Daryl

Ya me too!

Jen M

Indiana Jones and The Mummy will be in the coming weeks 👍

Jen M

Ok, final point: yeah, I'm also really excited that you got to go into it blind. For so many we didn't have that option, which makes sense for most of us because the trailer has to reveal enough to let us know whether or not it's a movie that we think we'd enjoy, but for Netflix (?) to spoil it like that is so remarkably lame. I'm really happy that you avoided that, that you didn't allow them to spoil it for you.

Yeah, it's a bummer to me that nobody knows what Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, and J Squad did. It's not about credit... but it's kind of about credit. And Tom Cruise went through SO MUCH with Emily Blunt and she doesn't know him at all. It's a low-key depressing ending. (Although it's also a GREAT ending: Tom Cruise smiles and laughs, and it ends. No belaboring the point, just... the director had nothing more to say so he ended it.)

Eric

1 - He's not (necessarily) a coward; he's UNTRAINED. I wouldn't want him with me either. 2 - You can tell he was right in "declining" the general's "offer" because if the foreign general had the right to order him to the front lines, he (the general) wouldn't have had to lie about the reason Cage was sent to the front lines. Instead he lied and said he was impersonating an officer.

Eric

Tom Cruise is maybe my favorite actor; seems like a WEIRD dude; I've heard the Scientology thing is dangerous, but I don't really understand it enough to know if that pushes him from "weird" to "dangerous". I can't deny that he's a compelling actor with a sterling IMDB page though. This is probably my favorite of his. It's such a blast, it's SO fun... I remember recommending this along with several other movies; I won't mention all the other ones again (well, at some point I will, but not right now), but I'll mention two others because they appealed to me in similar ways (ie because they were so fun): The Mummy - the first is incredible, honestly my favorite Indiana Jones movie; the 2nd and 3rd were sharply diminishing returns, so IMO not worth checking out (particularly the 3rd; a change in casting hurt it while also being a sign that it slipped even from the standards of 2) and A Knight's Tale - it's a blast; Heath Ledger, Alan Tudyk (Wash from Firefly), Paul Bettany (as Chaucer) chews the scenery in the best possible way... Robert Baratheon from GoT... it's got heart too (so does The Mummy, but not like A Knight's Tale does, IMO) also, quick shoutout to "Walk Hard" - it's not action/adventure like those 2are (3 if you include "Edge of Tomorrow") so it's fun in a different way, but what a FUN movie. Incredible cast, great great music; perfect writing.

Eric

Best video game movie ever. Only thing I can't figure: Why are they called "mimics"?

Michael G. Munz

I loved it!! Such a fun ride! Haven't seen Oblivion, may have to check that out sometime 👍

Jen M

Really looking forward to watching this reaction tonight, it's also one of my favorite sci-fi movies of the last decade, and possibly one of my favorite Tom Cruise movies (I also enjoyed Oblivion a lot which is from the year before).
