Airplane! (1980) Full Length Reaction

I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley.

Thanks to Bret for choosing this one as your Monthly Pick, I loved it!

This was so much fun!! I laughed all the through. I'm sure some of the jokes went over my head but the ones I caught were great 😆

I feel like you could watch this movie over and over and see new jokes every time!

Let me know if there are other comedies I should watch, I really had a fun time with this one!

Thanks for hanging out and watching with me :)

⭐ Special thank you to Producers: Baldielox, Stefan, Todd Preble, Kenneth, CBonius, MattN, Ronny Boss

Hint: When the jokes go by so quickly, you might want to turn on closed caption so you can laugh or talk and not miss the dialog. It's a standard practice of mine. What a change of background! Oh, I guess this is a previous setting. Everyone always zooms in on the heart at the Mayo clinic. Did you notice all the jars of mayo behind the guy on the phone? It WAS the Mayo Clinic, eh? The credit card device shown as the plane was fueling is actually how we used our credit cards at the gas stations back in the 60s and 70s. Yes, the pilot is Peter Graves from Mission Impossible. His brother James Arness was Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke. Notice every time you hear the sound of the engines, they're propellers, not jet engines. The two girls fighting in the bar were Girl Scouts, the female counterpart to the Boy Scouts which are youth organizations. The "he never want's another cup of my coffee" is a line from an old Yuban Coffee commercial. As a matter of fact, I think it's the same lady in the movie that was in the commercial! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ4kCF22O2w George Zipp was a flyer in Striker's group that got killed and that's why Striker always felt so guilty. You're way too young to remember, but it's ironic that the lady that translates jive for the stewardess was June Cleaver, Beaver's mom from Leave It To Beaver back in the early 60s. The model American housewife. The early microwaves were Amana Radar Ranges. Did you notice that all the news casters had a picture or drawing of a plane crashing behind them. I especially liked the native news drummer that changed sticks and turned to look an the second camera. Lloyd Bridges is Jeff and Beau Bridges dad. He had his own show, "Sea Hunt" from 1958 to 1961, and lots of other credits. Leslie Nielsen played a heavy for years and years. This was his first break into comedy that I'm aware of. Yes, he is in the Naked Gun movies (From the files of Police Squad!) and a 1-season series of a show called "Police Squad" supposedly where the files were gotten to make the Naked Gun. You really should check them out! Randi the other stewardess I think might have been in The Love Boat? Robert Stack has been around forever (since 1939) in movies and TV. I think he was most known for portraying Elliot Ness in The Untouchables (who, with his elite team of incorruptable agents battle organized crime in 1930s Chicago. Like you, my favorite character was Johnny (Steven Stucker) who unfortunately died of AIDS at 38. He was perfect for that part! PS: If you want to see a side-by-side comparison of Airplane and the movie it was based on, Zero Hour, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-v2BHNBVCs It's a MUST SEE!

I am so looking forward to watching this with Time Capsule Jen 😂

TheADHDOverlord

This movie is the first time I ever saw an end credit scene, but it was such a good one, with the cab passenger still waiting at the airport. :D

What made this movie even funnier when it released is that the majority of the cast was only known for serious works and not comedy.
