My favorite pet theory abt this episode is that Dee is Gary’s object of obsession. As any true crime buff knows, serial killers that kill one “type” of person usually has a person they’re obsessed with in their real lives that matches that description. Someone who caused them great trauma, or who they’re obsessed with or they feel severely wronged by (or both). He’s clearly obsessed with Dee, and she even says so. She also says many times how she takes advantage of him and lies to him. She doesn’t just match the description for the victims. She’s the blueprint for the victims.
