Dev Log #01 | Dynamic

Dynamic was the big tagline of the past weeks for me.

Dynamic in the scenes, but also in the dialogue. The goal beeing a less static presentation of the game. To accomplish that goal I focused on 2 specific parts and kind of failed on both,...

1. Animations

Animations are fairly new to me. Both in Ren,py and Blender. So for the beginning I tried to move static images and make simple animations. All to give the scenes more life and to accentuate certain movements and situations during the dialogue.

Examples beeing the leafes you brush aside as you enter the forest, or the short 3 picture animation during the blowjob scene with Hilde. Those are simple, but I think they actually help already and make the Visual novel experience a lot more entertaining. 

But this isn't the end, as I am slowly working out real animation in Blender. This may be a bit technical for those who don't know the software, but I am transitioning more and more to Eevee, a render engine that is a lot faster then what I used before. This means that full 24fps animation may be a possibility but it will take a while until I am there. Right now I am basically binge watching tutorials while I am at work.

2. Sound 

Probably my biggest shortcoming. I know Photoshop, Blender and basic Video editing but sound was never my field of expertise. 

Still, I have an Idea of what I must do and already tried this episode. With ambient tracks, new music and a few sound effects to emphasize my new animations.

But it isn't enough and together with animations, sound will be my main focus in the near future. Meaning that I will either learn to properly edit sounds myself and use free ressources, or I will look for a solid paid alternative.

I think that episode 03 is already better then it's predecessors. Much less static and with more emphasis on the actual happenings. But there will be more improvements coming.
