About the new tiers and exclusive content.
Added 2019-09-01 22:36:38 +0000 UTCEarlier this week I announced a change in my Patreon tiers. This post should help to understand what I did and why I did it.
tl;dr: Patreon tiers are simpler and there will be more exclusive content.
I am new on Patreon and I am new to game development. So when I first started, I looked out to other creators and took bits and pieces that seemed to work and put them into my campaign.
Now that I have spent a few months on this site, I have a better picture of what I want out of it and how to do that. Resulting in my new tiers.
- First and foremost, I made them simpler. With 2$, you will now get access to almost all exclusive posts. Including polls or similar things.
- Then I put the 7-day early access of the game on the 5$ tier. No more separation between 5$ and 10$.
- The higher tiers are only for those who wish to spend more. There is no "big" thing to get, except for the option to give me more direct feedback if you wish to do and rewards down the line, for those who want to be part of the development.
Why those changes?
What I want is for everyone to be able to see and follow the development of the game, regardless of the sum they pledge. And above that, to just have plain and simple tiers, where I am sure that I can give you the rewards I promise.
What about the posted content?
The content on the site will change a bit. For now, I am struggling with putting out useful posts, except for the Monday Updates. As I feel that polls and questionnaires probably wouldn't do much with few patrons.
So I will start "Dev logs" Where I give you a more In-Depth and direct view into what I am doing behind the scenes. These aren't simple content updates, but explain what I am learning, what I am struggling with. How I plan to move forward and how I am moving forward. Stuff like that. These will appear bi-weekly.
The Monday Updates will still come, but also bi-weekly, just because I don't work the equal amount of time every week due to my RL job. So I don't see the need to report very little every second week.
Some of you may have already guessed, but that means I will post the Monday Update for free the one week and the next the exclusive Dev logs.
