Printing From the Past - HP 2671G Thermal Printer

Hello! I've got some more stuff for that HP-9836C computer I picked up on plate (and even more planned for later). This time I was able to get the printer made for it and get it fixed to be usable again! And somehow this is my first time using a standalone thermal printer and I've got to say, this is the best way to do vintage printing!

I'm still working on the floppy disk stuff as I allude to at the start of this video, but I've made some extremely good progress and the CP/M-68K disk I show here was a breakthrough to get working. I'm hoping the video on that process will be next. I've been thinking about how to approach it and I'm leaning towards making it more about floppy disks and imaging in general and using the HP as just one example for it. I had to learn a lot more than I would have guessed for it and I know it will apply to other things in the future, so I think it will make sense to abstract it for that.

Very cool watching all the pieces fall into place for your repair process, especially with the cap reforming. I'm also very impressed that you not only found a belt, but a perfect fit as well on the first try, no less! Were there any options darkness/contrast control on the computer or the printer itself? Finally, that jog dial is so cool! I'm glad you did an overview as it is such an interesting feature, it makes so much sense on a text based system. Keep up the great work!
