3 Months of Work On Hydro Thunder - Clone PC, High Score Hack, Metal Repairs
Added 2023-04-09 16:57:02 +0000 UTCHello! This was a big one, probably actually too big. I maybe should have made three videos out of this but I don't want to flood the channel with Hydro Thunder videos. So I decided to make one bigger video with three different projects all in one.
Last week I didn't have a video because I was still finishing up parts of the work with this one (and doing taxes *shudders*). But this is the result of a lot of work I've been doing in the background while streaming to better understand the Hydro Thunder machines and work on preserving them. This is also going to be my formal release of two projects related to this:

The main objectives in this are that I demonstrate that it is possible to build a clone system of the computer in the machine, going over how the game weirdly stored high scores and how they were reverse engineered to be editable, and how I created new parts to solve to mechanical wear items on the cabinets that there were no good or affordable solutions for yet.
I'm still not done with these machines, I haven't even started on the repairs I originally wanted to yet! So there will be more in the future with them. But I think I'll hold onto those projects for another large update video when I'm ready like this, because it would be so easy to over do it with these.
