I've been staring at this PCMCIA SCSI adapter thinking "Someday I should really check that thing out on a video" and this week made for the perfect time to do it. So I'm taking a look at the Adaptec SlimSCSI! SCSI is great, when it works, but getting it to that point can be a challenge and doing so in a portable way makes it all the more complicated. So I didn't have high hopes going into it but by the end I was pretty impressed!
In the backgound I've been working on some other projects as well. I was going to do a video on the DECtalk express I've been using on streams but a tremendous number of stars aligned and I got my hands on a DECtalk DTC01 (The first DECtalk!) and I've been getting that working and testing different features. It's getting close and I'm hoping to make it next weeks video after a bit more research and testing. It's a weird one.
I've also finished designing the Philips CM-153 reproduction card for my CM-100 CD-ROM drive (The first CD drive, I'm sensing a pattern...). I've got the parts in for it and am just waiting for PCBs now to find out if my board design is functional and can finally drive out the CD drive. I'm really looking forward to this one! I also snuck parts in for 7 other device repairs of different levels of significance in that order so I'll have a few followups soon on some older projects. It's been a pretty productive couple weeks recently!
