How VGA works

Pending any issues cropping up, this should be the final version of this video.

Changes from the last version:
- A note about SVGA mismatching and some cuts to make it matter less and be slightly smoother
- V Sync animation
- Interface pinout animation while discussing the CGA,EGA,VGA differences
- Intro added
- Supporter outro properly timed
- Small color corrections

This was a way more complicated video to make than I envisioned it would be when I started it. Which has just so been the theme of this project. But I think it was worth the effort because I think this ended up being a solid primer for understanding VGA and will be useful to reference in the future. I learned some more about doing visual effects stuff in Resolve for this that I think will coming in handy for future videos, now that I've done it once it should be easier for future videos to add more flair.

EDIT: There was no intro sound effect/music so I'll need to fix that and re-upload before release. Nothing else will change so far.

How VGA works

Comments

Please don't worry any more about the coloring of this video. Having the color bars change hue gradually shows that you do put your heart into your work. Great job as always! The only thing I wonder is if, sometime in this VGA series, will you cover conversions from a TTL RGB to VGA?

Jeramy Breckles

Heh, the color bars were actually changing for real on the CRTs and you can even see the hue changing the VGA signal on the logic analyzer. But it was totally to weird some people out because I could and add a little bit of dynamic action to those segments.

Tech Tangents

I see you're aiming to get lots of OCD comments about the color bars with all wrong colors :-) Or are you just showing off how much editing you had to do to put this together? Don't worry, I noticed. Thanks for posting!
